Overview:
Veeco is looking for a Quality Engineer to join our Quality and Customer Experience organization to serve our Internal Operations, Product Development, and R&D groups in offering the best products, processes, and services, which delight the customers. They will drive a systems approach into critical quality processes, consistent with the expectations of customers in the semiconductor industry and ISO 9001:2015. Additionally, the individual will be expected to deploy and utilize key performance metrics to monitor, identify and drive opportunities for improvement at both, product + process levels. The Quality Engineer will monitor quality on under-production as well as on existing tools and address their issues [related to assembly, test, parts, manufacturing, integration, training, documentation, s/w, etc.] in a swift and diligent manner. The individual will gather data from various sources, databases to analyze trends, correlation factors to help in identifying issues and impact to operations. This individual will assist in investigating the causes, failure modes behind the issues/ problems/ challenges faced by our parts quality, manufacturing quality, test and inspection, etc. and drive corrective actions cross functionally. They will support driving continuous improvement initiatives and operational effectiveness as we meet and/ or exceed the challenging requirements of our customers. The Quality Engineer will report directly to the VP, Quality, in our San Jose, CA, location and will operate in and foster a high-quality continuous improvement culture, with data-driven initiatives and will pursue problem-solving using tools such as 8D, Fishbone Diagram, SPC. Additionally, this individual will support various QMS program activities in pursuit of achieving Corporate Quality Objectives and Customer expectations.

BS in Engineering/ Math/ Physical Sciences or STEM-related field and 8+ years of experience or an MS in Engineering/ Math/ Physical Sciences or STEM-related field and 5+ years of professional, full-time experience is required. Previous experience in utilizing/ implementing statistical techniques (SPC, DOE, Regression Analysis, ANOVA, GR&R) and software (such as Minitab, JMP) is required as is advanced-level proficiency in Excel. Proficiency of root-cause, failure analysis methods and CAPA practices such as 8D, 5-why, Ishikawa diagram, Fault-Tree analysis, is required. Hands-on experience in FMEA is a must.

The expected salary range for this position is $117,563 – $156,750 + bonus + benefits. When determining your pay, we will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.
