Job Description or Duties:
The Chair of the Department of Teacher Education provides academic leadership and
strategic vision, maintains the relationship between the Department and the University Administration, teaches undergraduate and/or graduate
courses. Contributes to the Department’s ‘s CAEP accreditation and state certification. Nurtures external relations with Partner
Schools and the community. Manages daily operations and administration, including recruitment, retention, assessment, curriculum, and
management of annual operation budget. Works with College of Education Dean and other Department Chairs. Provides guidance for programs
within the Department. Chair of the Department of Teacher Education. Eligible for a tenure track faculty position at the Associate Professor
or Professor level
Required Qualifications: Possesses a terminal degree in a field of study related to the program
offerings of the department. Has a minimum of two years of successful P-12 teaching. Possesses a record of consistent scholarly work.
Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Previous administrative
experience. Experiences teaching at the graduate level Experience teaching in one or more of the following areas: Literacy, ESL,
Curriculum, Education Research. Experience teaching online and with academic advising. Knowledge of and/or experience in accreditation.
Distinguished scholarly activity. Experience with culturally and linguistically diverse students.
