This is an exciting time to join the UKHSA’s Border Health Transformation Programme which contributes directly to supporting the delivery of safe, effective and efficient health protection at UK borders. The role is a fantastic opportunity for experienced project managers with a genuine passion for delivering quality outputs which make a tangible difference to the UK’s health security. You will join a team who bring commitment to their work along with expertise and knowledge, and a vibrant, positive working environment.
Successful applicants will have a varied and active role, working across disciplines, and will need to be proactive as well as resilient and reactive to any given situation. As the role is hybrid/remote working the ability to work with autonomy whilst actively contributing to the formation of a high performing team is essential. Some occasional UK travel may be required.
To succeed in this role, you will need to be a self-starter who is able to quickly build trusting relationships with our stakeholders. You will need to be adept at most aspects of day-to-day project management, and keen to develop your project delivery skills. Experience of working with operational colleagues to ensure their readiness for change delivered by projects is desirable, but not essential.
Location
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) offers hybrid working – this means that whilst the role will be based in one of our offices, there will be opportunities for an element of working from home. UKHSA have office locations across the UK. This role can be home based with occasional travels required.
The balance between home and workplace working is to be agreed with the line manager, determined primarily by business needs and in line with departmental policy.

STAGE 1 – APPLICATION & SIFT:
You will be required to complete an application form and a statement of suitability. Your statement of suitability should outline your skills, experience, and achievements, providing evidence of your suitability for the role, against the essential criteria (outlined in the person specification section). Your statement of suitability must not exceed 1000 words.

If you are successful at this stage, you will progress to an interview.
STAGE 2 – INTERVIEW
This competition will involve an interview via Teams.
The interview will be behaviours and strengths based questions. The Success Profiles framework will be used to assess and recruit the most suitable candidate. The following behaviours will be used at the interview:

Security clearance level requirement
Successful candidates must pass a disclosure and barring security check. Successful candidates must meet the security requirements before they can be appointed. The level of security needed is Basic Personnel Security Standard. People working with government assets must complete Basic Personnel Security Standard checks.
For posts on UKHSA Civil Service terms and conditions, new entrants to the Civil Service are expected to start on the minimum of the pay band. For existing Civil Servants and roles advertised across government, the rules of transfer apply, i.e., level transfers move on current salary or the pay range minimum, transfers on promotion move to new pay range minimum or receive a 10% increase. Either case is determined by whichever is the highest.
