Wings for Life is currently looking for a Communications Manager – Part Time to be based in London, UK. As the charity of Red Bull, Wings for Life UK (WfL) has a fantastic opportunity for a motivated Communications Manager. WfL funds world class scientific research and clinical trials around the globe aimed at accelerating progress towards a cure for spinal cord injury. WfL in the UK are a small team of committed fundraisers who collectively raise circa £2-3million a year. Working as part of the small but experienced and supportive team, this role will be responsible for leading on marketing & comms strategy for WfL UK, supporting the global WfL plan. The overall objective is to increase awareness of, and affinity for, the mission of Wings for Life. This role encompasses both internal and external comms, working closely with the WfL UK team, Partners, Ambassadors and WfL global teams to develop and amplify our key messages.

Communications Planning
Develop a national communication plan, in support of the global plan, in partnership with the UK charity team and the global charity team. Utilise efficient tactics to drive coverage reaching existing and new audiences. Lead on the execution of Still Images and Moving Images content production. Lead strategy and execute tactics for internal messaging to Red Bull organisations regarding the mission of Wings for Life UK and our fundraising programs.
Campaign Execution
Define communication objectives, messages, and tactics to amplify fundraising, pitching, presentations/speeches, events, stewardship and cultivation initiatives. Collaborate with Wings for Life social media channel owners on to help guide strategy and provide fresh content (Instagram and LinkedIn) Build creative ideas and transform them into successful stories/campaigns that drive potential new donor engagement and belief in the mission, including but not limited to: Joint 20th anniversary campaigns for Wings for Life and Oracle Red Bull Racing. Wings for Life World Run, our flagship fundraising event. Build relationships with WfL Ambassadors and key supporters with a view to deepening their association with Wings for Life and raising awareness with the general public. Ad hoc media/agency management Manage dedicated communications budget to reflect priorities and deliver expected outcomes. Oversee accurate and consistent representation of Wings for Life’s mission. Measure outcomes using analytic tools and report results to key stakeholders. Copywriting and proofreading of supporter comms.

- Strong Marketing and Communications experience
- Ability to source stories, competency in Content production across all channels, with exceptional attention to detail.
- Understanding of the UK media landscape and strong editorial skills.
- Track record of delivering results against tight deadlines.
- Exceptional communication skills, including written, verbal and presentations.
- Strong planning, prioritization, and project management competencies.
- Able to maintain strong working relationships both internally and externally and enjoy working as part of a team.
- Be capable of self-management, be able to use your own initiative and have a proactive approach.
- Creative thinker and innovator; in touch with digital, culture, trends, etc. Willingness to ‘do things differently’.
- Accurate word-processing skills and the ability to effectively use Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, databases and internet applications.
- Design skills e.g. illustrator, indesign, canva desirable
- Willingness to travel within the UK and overseas with occasional overnight stays.
- Willingness to work occasional days at weekends (time back in lieu) and/or late evenings for events.
- Passionate about working for charity, ideally with an interest in spinal cord injury.
- We value experience over formal education.
