Job Purpose/Background:
As Greenbacker continues to raise capital and grow our investment portfolio, we seek a Preconstruction Manager to work on a broad range of projects as they relate to acquisition of our renewable energy asset portfolio. The Preconstruction Manager’s core role will be to manage the preconstruction phase of new solar projects from development to construction with a heavy focus on the EPC contractor selection process. The role will report to Greenbacker’s Director of Preconstruction and the selected individual will work closely with Project Managers, Operations Team, and the Investments Team. The Operations team is responsible for Asset Management, Field Operations, Technical Due Diligence, Preconstruction, and Construction.
As a small and evolving firm, the responsibilities will be broad, varied and all encompassing. Additionally, in joining a growing team there is significant opportunity to gain responsibility and perform high level tasks earlier than what is typical at larger organizations; such opportunity will be based solely on the merits of the individual joining our team. The role will be remote or based in one of our East Coast (Portland, ME, Montpelier, VT, or New York City) with occasional travel as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
· Coordinate EPC Request for Proposal processes inclusive of data room preparation, material preparation, and bid administration for solar and EPC construction projects.
· Assist in contracting with and managing third party consultants include engineering, geotechnical consultants, and surveyors.
· Perform constructability due diligence reviews for new project acquisitions including review of design drawings, geotechnical reports, interconnection agreements, power purchase agreements, and project schedules.
· Travel to project sites as needed to assess for constructability, host EPC bidder site tours, and to arrange consultant site visits.
· Upon receipt of EPC proposals, prepare proposal evaluation packages and coordinate question and answer logs with bidders.
· Assist in EPC contract negotiation, drafting and exhibit creation.
· Manage documentation provided by various project stakeholders into a clear and up-to-date project data directory.
· Conduct market research on an ongoing basis to identify and qualify construction partners in all markets in which Greenbacker participates.
· Work independently and collaboratively.
· Support department continuous improvement and development of internal processes
Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes:
· Minimum 3 years in the renewable power or construction industries.
· Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
· Experience/knowledge with electrical, civil, and mechanical systems.
· Proficient written communication skills.
· Ability to manage multiple activities at a time with limited direct supervision.
· Intermediate/advance skills using Microsoft Word/Excel and Box.
· An Ability to maintain organization and timeliness in a chaotic environment and to help others be organized and timely in their endeavors.
· Resourceful, A true “self-starter.” We are a small team and need someone to bring the full breadth of their skills, expertise, and intellect to work every day to help the business grow.
