This is a Remote Role role that is open to anyone who has work authorization in Malaysia.

About MWSDES

The Malaysian World Schools Debate Education Society (MWSDES) is a non-profit organization established to manage, fund, train, and sustainably develop the national debate team that represents Malaysia at the annual World Schools Debating Championship (WSDC).

Our organization’s patron is the Ministry of Education of Malaysia. We work collaboratively with them to design programs and content for students and teachers across Malaysia.

We aim to prepare a globally-competitive debate team who will represent Team Malaysia through the following means:

• A competitive national-level selection process to select the prospective members of Team Malaysia (Challenger Squad).
• A sustainable training program for potential future members of Team Malaysia (Future Squad), so as to better develop the pool of debate talent.
• An intensive training program for Team Malaysia with a specifically designed curriculum that is adapted to their needs.
• Funding the competitive journey of Team Malaysia to local and international tournaments.

Our vision is to create an effective and sustainable program for the development of Malaysia’s debating talents, so as to achieve new heights for Team Malaysia at WSDC.

Job Responsibilities

Website Management: Assist in the management and maintenance of MWSDES website built on the Wix platform.

• Update website content, ensuring accuracy, relevance, and alignment with MWSDES branding guidelines.
• Collaborate with the marketing to implement website improvements, optimize user experience, and ensure effective SEO practices.

Digital Platform Administration: Support the administration and optimization of digital platforms, such as Zapier and Slack, to streamline workflows and enhance team collaboration.

• Help set up and maintain automated processes using Zapier to integrate various tools and platforms used by MWSDES.
• Assist in managing the MWSDES Slack workspace, including channel organization, user access, and troubleshooting.

Data Analysis and Reporting: Monitor and analyze website and digital platform analytics to identify trends, track user engagement, and measure the effectiveness of digital campaigns.

• Prepare regular reports and present insights to the team, providing recommendations for improvement based on data-driven findings.

Digital Project Coordination: Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of digital projects and initiatives, such as online events, webinars, and virtual workshops.

• Collaborate with team members to ensure timely execution of digital campaigns and deliverables.
• Conduct research on digital trends, tools, and strategies to support the development of innovative digital initiatives.
• Support the coordination of webinars including participant management, tech support and follow up with participants.

New Product Innovation: MWSDES is on the verge of utilizing Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain to create innovative products to revolutionize the education space on a national and global scale.

• You will get the opportunity to participate in the ideation of new and innovative products for MWSDES.
• Your role will be to support the development of new products from ideation, development and rollout stage.
• Research current and upcoming trends of innovation in the education space both from a product perspective and a business perspective.

Qualifications

We don’t care so much about formal education, although we acknowledge it might be a good signal towards your abilities.

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in a relevant field, such as digital marketing, communications, or information technology.
• Familiarity with website management platforms, preferably Wix, and a willingness to learn new tools and technologies.
• Basic understanding of digital platforms such as Zapier and Slack, with the ability to quickly adapt and navigate through their functionalities.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and derive actionable insights.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.

Internship to Employment Journey: Salary & Benefits

Stipend, Bonuses & Salary:

• Internship: This role will pay out a base stipend of RM 750.00 during your internship period that will last 3-months, August 2023 to October 2023.
• Part-Time: If you perform well, we will extend your stay with us to a Part-Time role where we will pay you a salary of RM 1500.00/month for 2-months, November 2023 to December 2023.
• Contract Position (1-year): If you perform well during your part-time role – You will be offered a contract position with a base salary of RM 3000.00. MWSDES will contribute to the 13% mandatory EPF payment for its employees, but you will have to deposit that as self-contribution.
• [Only for Contract position] – Insurance Subsidy: We will also provide you with a subsidy for your insurance (life/medical) worth RM 100 monthly. This can be converted to an internet subsidy instead. This brings the total base salary to RM 3,490.00 if you are are offered the Contract Position in January 2024.
• We’re a registered society in Malaysia, – thus we observe all Malaysian Public & State Holidays in Selangor, and the remote location of our employees.

Benefits:

• [Only for Contract position] – Salary Revision: Revision of base salary & EPF contributions every 6 months from start date – to account for inflation & increments.
• Work Time Flexibility: A majority of your work will take place according to your individually designed schedule. However, we will offer guidance on how to manage events related work as that would be a designated schedule.
• Event Work: This role is a remote role. However, if you are keen to join in as part of the event crew for physical events – you can do so. Transportation costs for event days / event related commutes will be reimbursed. event preparation almost exclusively happens remotely.
• Event Participation Payouts: If you’ve participated in an event, each event will conclude with a bonus payout to you between RM50 – RM200. There are approximately 3-6 events a month. So you will be able to earn quite a bit from participating as an event crew.

Interview process & how to apply

• We will be accepting applications between the 3rd of July to the 7th of July – We reserve the right to close our application earlier if we’ve collected an adequate number of applications from potential candidates. Those shortlisted will be informed on the 7th of July if not earlier.
• Interviews will be held between the 10th of July to the 14th of July
• We will be finalizing the candidate between the 17th of July to the 19th of July.
• There will be an ONLINE onboarding period between the 24th of July to the 28th of July. This Onboarding period will pay out a pro-rated stipend of RM 190 (rounded up from 187.50) from your internship rate.
• You will officially start on the 1st of August.
