Curtiss-Wright Fleet Solutions is comprised of three service centers that focus on the US Navy fleet support and maintenance market. The Fleet Solutions group provides turnkey overhaul / repair, testing, and parts sales for air compressors, main propulsion steam turbines, valves, steam turbine generators, auxiliary turbines, dehydrators, pumps, strainers, PLCs, blowers, and water purification.
Our Fleet Solutions group supports the US Navy aircraft carrier, submarine, and various support vessels repair work. We provide technical direction primarily associated with shipboard installation and overhauls of Curtiss-Wright and OEM partnership equipment. This unique opportunity will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Chula Vista (San Diego), CA Service Center with significant opportunity to take on larger roles within this business.
Operations Manager and Chula Vista, California Site Leader
Reporting to the Senior General Manager of the Fleet Solutions business unit, this is an ideal opportunity for an emerging leader to step into a challenging role, own it, drive success, lead change and quickly expand your career at Curtiss-Wright.
Salary Range: $100,500 to $192,200

Immediate task will be to assume local control of the Chula Vista Service Center; familiarize yourself with the Business Unit, its activities, customers, product lines, capabilities, current strategy, business plans and policies.
As site leader of the Chula Vista facility, you will have broad responsibility for the day-to-day activities of this site, including administration, program management, support functions, procurement, field service and manufacturing employees.
Position may have dual reporting relationships to the Director of Fleet Solutions as well as to the Sr. General Manager. Significant opportunity for this position to grow substantially in the short-term based on the candidates experience and results.
Provide leadership guidance to the office and manufacturing teams towards successfully achieving key business metrics (P&L, Program execution, On-Time Delivery, Quality, EH&S, etc.)
Monitor financial performance of the Chula Vista location to ensure targets are being met.
Involved in translating customer requirements into state-of-the-art manufacturing/business strategies and processes, to ensure a growing and profitable business.
Responsibility to develop and implement evolving staffing plans/requirements to meet customer expectations and location budgets.
Establish overarching and cascading objectives to move the Chula Vista site forward and raise the standard of operational excellence. Help establish and deploy a LEAN operating framework utilizing the CW Way programs, and drive performance metrics with visual indicators throughout.
Work proactively with your local management team to ensure that site efforts and project initiatives are aligned with business needs and strategic direction.
Take ownership of coaching and developing the entire Chula Vista staff; providing cross-training initiatives that fosters an environment of employee involvement.
Ensure tight control is maintained over business performance and that operating management responds quickly and effectively to any problems and/or adverse trends. Proactively resolve technical, people, and production issues to ensure success of the team while exceeding customer expectations.
Evaluate existing business processes, identify areas of gaps or risks, and develop formal action plans to reduce risks and continuously improve the business.
Work closely with the West Coast Business Development team on customer proposals to ensure alignment to long-range strategic planning.
Build and maintain strong customer business relationships in domestic and international government markets and commercial shipyards.
Act as liaison with government agencies for the Chula Vista office as needed. Maintain level of oversight to ensure compliance with industry regulations, regulatory agencies, export laws and technology transfer as they apply to proposal development, contract negotiations, and program execution.
Assist and/or lead Program Reviews with customers.
Champion change through the business to continually improve performance.
Develop, maintain, and execute on yearly capital expenditure programs.
Manage compliance with local, state, and national regulatory bodies, as needed.

Your Expertise:
Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to maintain government security clearances.
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Operations, Engineering or Financial Management.
Minimum of 7 years of practical relevant business leadership is required.
Repair/manufacturing and shipyard industry experience with related leadership responsibility a strong plus but not required.
LEAN and/or Six-Sigma experience and knowledge strongly preferred.
A career demonstrating increased responsibility and acknowledged as a leader in best practice management.
Thorough knowledge of production, manufacturing, and systems operations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and develop effective working relationships.
Entrepreneurial and innovative spirit and sense of urgency.
Strong collaboration and partnership skills with the ability to listen, solve complex problems, and deal with ambiguity.
Proven ability to develop and implement new strategies in a complex business environment.
Ability to develop talent, both with individuals and diverse teams.
