The University of Central Arkansas Mathematics Department seeks to fill a tenure-track assistant professor position in mathematics education beginning August 2024. The position requires a doctorate in mathematics education or a closely related field. Duties include teaching undergraduate and graduate mathematics education courses; conducting research in mathematics education; and service to the university, K-12 schools, and school districts in the Central Arkansas region.
Applicants should demonstrate a strong commitment to and proven ability in undergraduate teaching. Preference will be given to applicants who have K-12 classroom teaching experience. Regular load is 12 credit hours per semester, some of which can be for supervising interns. In addition, reassigned time for research is possible.
UCA has a total enrollment of 9913 undergraduate students and 524 graduate students with enrollment numbers staying steady over the years. It has a faculty-student ratio of 15 to 1. The Math Department has 18 full-time faculty members including 4 in mathematics education. The Department offers undergraduate degrees in applied mathematics, pure mathematics, data science, and mathematics education, and offers master’s degrees in applied mathematics and mathematics education.
