Position title: Pre-six Supervisor of Teacher Education- Multiple Subject
Salary range: A reasonable estimate for a full-time position is $68,247 – $89,047 (based on salary points 2-11). See the posted UCSC Salary Scales and refer to the salary scale titled Non-senate [NSI] Unit 18 Pre-six Supervisor of Teacher Education Academic Year. Instructional Workload Credit (IWC) valuation may vary and the course salary will be adjusted accordingly. Compensation for Summer Session courses may vary from courses taught during the academic year (see Summer Session Faculty and Lecturer Pay).
Percent time: Variable, based on the course load assigned.
Anticipated start: Appointments are contingent on the hiring units instructional need and the availability of funding. This recruitment is valid for initial appointments made in fall quarter 2023 through fall quarter 2024. Initial appointments with effective dates outside of this recruitment period will require an alternative open recruitment.
Position duration: Appointments are typically made during one or more quarters of the regular academic year (fall, winter, and spring quarters), but they may also be made during Summer Session.

Position Description
The Education Department at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for an ongoing pool of Supervisors of Teacher Education in Multiple Subject. Responsibilities supervising student teachers; teaching the beginning, intermediate, and advanced student teaching seminars at the University; and serving on Education Department committees. Supervisors are also responsible for assisting credential candidates to complete a comprehensive assessment of their instruction based on the California Teaching Performance Expectations.
Applicants who possess supplementary authorizations in English, mathematics, science, or social science may be eligible to supervise student teachers in middle and high school classroom settings if there is a programmatic need.
The department prepares approximately 65 credential students per year for teaching in K-12 California public schools. The program, which also grants a Masters of Arts in Education, operates on a year-round schedule (summer to summer). The University of California, Santa Cruz, a Hispanic Serving Institution, serves a mix of suburban and rural schools in which many students are immigrants or the children of immigrants. We are committed to inquiry-based pedagogies for preparing teachers to improve the education of linguistically and culturally diverse students and promote equity and social justice. Supervisors of teacher education may hold full-time (100%) appointments during the academic year. Appointments are based on student enrollment and are typically less than 100% time, in which case, accepted candidates may also apply to the Education Departments Lecture Pool if they would like to be considered for an additional appointment as lecturer.

- B.A./B.S. degree (or equivalent foreign degree).
- Valid California Clear Multiple Subject Teaching Credential.
- Teaching Experience in K-12 schools.
