General Summary:
The Senior Systems Engineer (SSE), under general supervision but in compliance with organization policies and procedures, works to ensure the efficiency, stability, and integrity of USSFCU’s technology infrastructure. The SSE possesses strong communication skills and will serve as a technical escalation resource, effectively acting as a “co-owner” of the technology infrastructure. The SSE will also act as de-facto “team lead”, utilizing team resources efficiently to complete tasks and projects with a service-delivery mentality and in alignment with the department. The SSE will also provide guidance and mentorship to encourage career growth within the organization.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Information System (Or Computer Science, Engineering). or equivalent experience in VMWare Certified Professional and Cisco Certified Network Associate (or Dell equivalent).
Experience: Eight plus (8+) years preferred of demonstrated experience in a number of information technology areas, such as: Applications, networking & telecommunications, SQL databases, alongside helpdesk engagement at the enterprise level or similar consulting experience. Proficient with deploying and configuring Microsoft Server and Client operating systems, administration of Hybrid Exchange environment, deployment and management of Microsoft SQL Server, deployment, and management ESXi and vCenter, VDI environments, including deployment maintenance, and troubleshooting. Five plus years (5+) years of preferred experience in VMWare platform, administrating stateful firewalls solutions, e.g., Palo Alto, Cisco, Barracuda, scripting languages, PowerShell, and BASH, deployment, management of Linux servers, troubleshoot networking problems at the various layers, hands-on experience with physical server installation and configuration. Experience with IBM/AIX or Unix environments preferred.
A successful candidate should be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge of general workplace computing, troubleshooting, and support, alongside a passion for continual improvement.
Communication: Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Must be able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines and clearly document work. Must be able to communicate effectively to translate user requirements to accurate output. Proficient presentation skills required. Must be able to work in a team environment.
