About the role: Point O’ Woods, a private community located on Fire Island, NY is seeking a dedicated and experienced Restaurant General Manager to oversee overall operations of its primary dining establishment, The Club at Point O’ Woods. To thrive in this role, you must be able to provide exceptional customer service, manage rotating menus with exceptional product presentation, and maintain and hire a fully staffed, motivated team.
BENEFITS:
Competitive salary: $35,000 – $40,000 in the season (Approx. May 15th – September 30, flexible), hourly pay for hiring staff in the off-season and a bonus of up to $20,000, depending on profitability.

REQUIREMENTS:
Provide daily management oversight of all Club/Restaurant operations.
Develop methods and procedures, including preparing and maintaining a Standard Operating Procedure Manual. Monitor adherence to standards by all staff members.
Hire & manage the staff for the Front of the House, the Bar, Special events and our gift shop, The Beachcomber. Interview, hire and train new employees. Monitor employee performance, including attendance, conduct performance evaluations and corrective action, as required.
Develop weekly staffing schedule to ensure effective coverage, timely openings and closings.
Manage the interior and exterior spaces of The Club to assure stylish presentation of all items and overall appearance and cleanliness.
Monitor customer service to ensure professional and efficient experiences for clientele.
Oversee Club Essentials register operation, reconciliation, preparation, and daily sales reporting.
Collaborate with the Head Chef to:
Plan and execute menus balancing standardized recipes and culinary trends to ensure creative yet cost conscious menu development.
Purchase ingredients assuring that profit margins are maintained in accordance with plan.
Plan and implement weekly menu specials and pricing along with special event sales.
Develop menu preparation, plating, and portion control procedures for front of house staff.
Support all aspects of our internal POS system, Club Essentials.
Ensure profitability through efficient labor cost controls and manage beverage costs.
Handle customer complaints and billing disputes.
Oversee ordering of beverage, and front of the house supplies.
Coordinate internal and off-site special events.
Approve and process weekly payroll.
Assign and manage on-site employee housing.
Work with Point O’Woods Association General Manager and POWA staff to open and close the Club facility.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree in restaurant management and culinary education required.
Minimum of 3 years of restaurant management experience, including managing staff.
Computer skills including Word, Excel and e-mail.
Ability to work weekends
Ability to work in a hands on, cooperative, team-oriented atmosphere and to provide professional management and leadership.
Excellent communication skills with multiple levels within the organization.
