Description
Under general supervision, the Human Resources Specialist performs a wide variety of technical human resources work in the areas of payroll, recruitment, testing, compensation, classification, selection, benefits, retirement, safety, training, career development, and other human resources functions in the Department of Human Resources; responds to inquiries and corresponds with a wide variety of individuals.SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISEDGeneral supervision is provided by a higher-level professional or management position. Functional and technical supervision may be provided by a Senior Human Resources Analyst. Responsibilities of a Human Resources Specialist may include the technical or functional support of lower-level personnel.
Education & Experience
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONExperience and Education:3-5 Years of increasingly responsible journey level recruitment experienceCompletion of 60 semester units from an accredited college or university with major coursework in public or business administration, economics, accounting, or a related field.Substitutions:Additional qualifying experience may substitute for the required education on a year for year basis.A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in human resources, business administration, or a closely related field may substitute for two years of the required experience.
As a condition of employment with SHRA, this employee will be required to complete a COVID-19 vaccination recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (including for emergency use) and provide proof of vaccination to the Human Resources Department prior to employment.
