The Opportunity
The AVP, Actuary will join the Actuarial Pricing team within the Specialty & Commercial division and use innovative analytical approaches for account level pricing and portfolio optimization. The role is business-facing and requires a high degree of creativity, self-direction, and communication skills to be successful. This role will primarily support the A&H, Aviation, and Residential businesses.
Primary Responsibilities
* Provide actuarial pricing services to help deliver profitable growth for S&C.
* This includes account specific pricing (new and renewal business), development of pricing tools, portfolio adequacy analysis, reinsurance strategy, and business planning
* Partner with the Underwriting, Claims, and Analytics teams to solve large strategic business issues by demonstrating skills outside of an actuarial/statistical framework and full understanding of industry trends
*Identify new opportunities for actuarial analysis within S&C and work with others as necessary to develop implementation plans including required resources, data needs and communication to key stakeholders
* Evaluate new product ideas by preparing, analyzing and interpreting data to recommend appropriate courses of action to top actuaries and partners across the business
* Leverage technology in new and innovative ways to propose new solutions to current/existing analyses while continuously progressing analyses beyond what was done historically
* Assist with development and implementation of strategic, long-term risk management by collaborating across the business to share knowledge of actuarial analyses and influence plans that reduce organizational exposure to loss
* Engage in recruitment activities and encourage others to develop relevant technical, business and social skills
* Manage budgeted resources by anticipating expenditures, accurately forecasting resource needs/costs and properly accounting for expenses to meet requirements and achieve fiscal responsibility
Required Education
* Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
Required Experience
* 7 years relevant experience

Preferred Education Specifics
* Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Economics or other quantitative field
Preferred Experience
* 7+ years of experience
*property and casualty actuarial field
*experience with actuarial analyses or predictive modeling in area of responsibility
*increasing levels of responsibility
Preferred Licenses/Certifications
* FCAS or FSA or equivalent
Preferred Knowledge
* Advanced working knowledge of current and possible future policies, practices, trends, technology and information affecting his/her business and organization; knows how the industry works
*Advanced working knowledge of computer systems and software
*Current and contemporary actuarial pricing and reserving techniques and best practices

Base pay offered will vary depending on, but not limited to education, experience, skills, geographic location and business needs
Annual Salary Range: $143,000 – $215,000
