Position description
Medical Surgical at our Osseo location is an 18-bed department serving both acutely ill and transitional care patients. The department provides care to acutely ill community members, as well as patients transferred from Mayo Clinic Rochester and Mayo Clinic Health System-Eau Claire who have complex medical conditions and need time for rehabilitation, education, medication management and assistance with self-care before transitioning home. The Medical Surgical team is committed to their patients and each other and have set the bar high in terms of team engagement, patient experience, continuous improvement, lifelong learning, quality clinical outcomes and commitment to patient and employee safety.

The Patient Care Assistant assists staff with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care which supports and complements nursing practice under the supervision of a registered nurse. The Patient Care Assistant carries out delegated skills that are within those functions limited by law to unlicensed nursing personnel.

Qualifications
18 years old and completion of 12 college credits or High school Diploma/GED with successful completion of a Nursing Assistant training or equivalent.

Additional qualifications
Certified Nursing Assistant on State of Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry in “non-expired” status (preferred). Patient care skills, knowledge of infection control and safety procedures, medical terminology, strong verbal and written communication skills. Requires independent judgment, a high level of motivation, accountability, flexibility, interest in patient care, and compassion for people.

License or certification
Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Provides from one of the following programs; American Heart Association or American Red Cross. If a candidate does not currently have their Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross, the Basic Life Support certification will be included as part of the orientation program.
