The Health Technician-Paramedic Supervisor clinical activities within this position shall only occur when the DMT has been formally activated and deployed under the authority of the DMT Manager and DMT Medical Director. The DMT provides medical expertise and services that enhance the medical response capacity and capabilities of local communities, cities, counties, and/or regions during emergencies, disasters and planned events.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Provides direct care to a select patient population, administers highly skilled basic and advanced emergency medical care, at the current and accepted EMT-Paramedic standard level of care within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, expected to perform allowable procedures initiates interventions as described within the Region 4 Statewide Treatment Protocols of the MA State Department of Public Health, Office of Emergency Medical Services. While working as part of the DMT response, the Paramedic shall practice under the license of the DMT Medical Director and report to the team Chief Medical Officer for all clinical actions. Reports to the Operations Section Chief otherwise for assignment, accountability, performance and evaluations.
1. Massachusetts State Paramedic Certification in good standing
2. National Registry Paramedic certification via National Registry of EMTs (NREMT) preferred
3. High School diploma or equivalent
4. ACLS, BLS, PALS. certifications
5. Prior experience as a provider of pre-hospital care in an emergency setting
6. Prior experience in disaster response, hospital emergency care or critical care transfer experience preferred
7. Valid driver’s license with no current moving violations
8. Five years’ experience or hours equivalent as a proven pre-hospital provider in all aspects of providing and documenting care of the sick and injured
9. Demonstrated leadership ability
10. Familiarity with and the ability to interact well with staff as well as with personnel from other agencies, including fire and police personnel, Physicians and Nurses, ancillary hospital personnel, external agencies and the general public
11. Hazmat awareness, operations highly desirable
12. PPE donning and doffing skills
13. Ability to work in an unfamiliar and stressful hazard conditions, including self-care and clinical care
14. Understanding and ability to work within Incident Command System
15. Clinical expertise within their specialty area
