General Description/Purpose:
The Director, Transportation & Logistics will provide a high level of service to ensure employee and customer satisfaction. This will be accomplished by defining the strategic direction for the transportation and logistics functions at Stickley and managing all aspects of Stickley’s distribution network, including:
Managing activities associated with Stickley’s warehouse operations
Managing Stickley’s transportation services, including Stickley’s fleet of trucks
Coordinating delivery to Stickley customers and showrooms
Managing relationships with third party delivery service providers
Champion Lean/Continuous improvement initiatives to drive efficiency gains and cost reductions
Job Responsibilities:
Develop multi-year plan that supports overall business goals, including E-Commerce strategy
Overall accountability for Stickley warehouse operations, including managing expense budgets
Support new product development / Market activities
Manage all aspects of Stickley’s fleet, including scheduling service and initiating new equipment purchases / leases as required
Manage driver routes to maximize utilization of equipment, including back haul opportunities
Managing carrier relationships and contract negotiations
Ensure DOT regulations are followed, proper documentation is maintained, and staff is trained
Develop & administer programs that result in most economical methods of shipment for company products
Direct liaison for all 3rd party warehouses and delivery operations; includes monitoring inventory levels
Ensure timely and accurate processing of 3rd party transportation invoices
Drive Quality Improvement initiatives to reduce / minimize customer returns
Ensure all safety guidelines are followed, drive 6S initiatives internally
Stay up to date with industry best practices / processes
Have a working knowledge of Stickley systems including Microsoft AX and Podium
People leadership responsibilities, including development of staff

Essential Skills:
Solid understanding of domestic and international logistics & DOT regulatory requirements
Solid understanding of LEAN principles, demonstrated success implementing LEAN
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, good collaboration skills
Good organizational skills and have ability to prioritize and drive results
Strong computer skills (proficient with Microsoft Office, i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Demonstrated knowledge of ERP systems
Previous contract negotiation experience
Must be adaptable and flexible
Must have high ethical standards & demonstrate positive professional image
