General Description
The Compliance Specialist I is responsible for assisting in reviewing legislative affairs, legal review, and regulatory compliance for the entire organization. Participates in the formulation, development, and recommendation of policies and procedures for the bank as they relate to regulatory compliance. Interacts with all bank officers, managers, and staff ensuring communication and understanding of regulatory compliance matters.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Works with other associates to ensure that current bank policies and procedures are accurate, current, and in compliance with all relevant regulations and statutes. This duty is performed as about 10% of the time.
2. Completes compliance monitoring according to the compliance monitoring schedule to review and confirm current policies, procedures, and activities in regards to acceptable rules, regulations, and statutes. This duty is performed about 10% of the time.
3. Responsible for specific monitoring of data compiled by other departments within the bank to ensure compliance with various laws and regulations as well as reporting results to management. This duty is performed about 30% of the time.
4. Compiles and organizes the specific data required by department management to assist with determining overall performance of the compliance management system. This duty is performed about 20% of the time.
5. Responsible for following up with items related to departmental monitoring and compliance monitoring to ensure proper implementation of corrective action. This includes, but is not limited to, the implementation of new or updated policies and procedures, insuring corrective action when needed, and providing needed training. This duty is performed about 15% of the time.
6. Assists the Compliance management with special projects which includes tracking tasks needed to complete projects. This may also include backing up other Compliance staff. This duty is performed about 10% of the time.
7. Monitors and disseminates information on regulatory matters affecting the bank as directed by Compliance management. This duty is performed about 5% of the time.
8. Maintains regular and reliable attendance, punctuality and personal appearance. Reads, writes, and communicates in a clear and efficient manner via various types of correspondence, such as, in person, phone, email, letters, etc. Adheres to all company policies and procedures, as well as all applicable banking rules, regulations, and laws (including BSA/AML).
9. Performs any other related duties as required or assigned.

A valid motor vehicle licenses and/or the ability to travel to other Great Southern Bank locations a few times a month or as needed is required.
