Reporting to the Director of Research Development, the Research Center Startup Project Manager will serve as a consultant for newly awarded research centers, applying knowledge of operational best practices and of institutional resources and processes to ensure efficient launch of successful research centers. Responsibilities will include working directly with Principal Investigators to develop and establish center management, budget, communication, evaluation, research, and other plans as needed, and then transitioning operational responsibilities to a permanent Center Director as they are hired. Position may manage a portfolio of 2-4 centers at various stages of planning and initiation at any given time. This position will also contribute to the development of new proposals for research centers and other activities of the Office of Research Development.
Job Duty 1 –
Advise Principal Investigator(s) on financial and organizational implications associated with strategic and operational decisions (including with reference to the sponsored research agreement and Institute policies).
Job Duty 2 –
Develop plans for effective administration and organization of center management, budgeting, communication, evaluation, research, and other functions as needed.
Job Duty 3 –
Develop and oversee/ execute workflows for daily center administration, operation, and financial tasks, which may include the following:
Job Duty 4 –
Provide proposal development and preparation support, including guidance in the area of center management best practices and how the proposed work will be operationalized. Advise proposal writers on securing cost-share and institutional support as needed.
Job Duty 5 –
Perform other duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Experience
Three to six years of job-related experience

Graduate Degree
Preferred Experience
Six to ten years of job-related experience
Preferred Specialized Skills
The salary range for this position is $80,413.00 – $109,362.00. The final offer commensurate with education and experience.
