PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Manage and perform state regulatory inspections of pressure vessels within the required timeline.
Maintain the site Pressure Vessel Quality Control Manual (PVQCM), along with associated procedures, maintenance strategies and practices.
Develop expertise and utilize multiple nondestructive testing techniques to assess equipment performance.
Stay current with State and National regulations and codes pertaining to pressure vessels, storage vessels, piping and welding.
Assist with developing, implementing, and maintaining the pressure vessel inspection plan together with engineering, meeting all PVQCM requirements.
Perform inspection tasks and schedule monitoring programs to assure the mechanical integrity of the equipment.
Become familiar with prior history of the vessels, review the vessel’s prior inspection results, prior repairs, and current inspection plan; determine the types of inspection required, e.g. internal, external, on-stream, etc.
Perform internal inspection of vessels in accordance with the inspection plan.
Verify that all new materials used during repairs or alterations are consistent with the specifications.
Authorize any repair or alteration work before the work is started, and designate any hold points that are required.
D etermine corrosion rates, remaining life, and next inspection date for each pressure vessel.
Review and update the inspection and NDE techniques required for each equipment, including the extent and locations of inspection and NDE.
E nsure all local jurisdiction regulations are followed, including completing all forms, data sheets, and reports.
Ensure all NDE results are evaluated and determined to be accepted or rejected, with recommendations to resolve all deficiencies.
R eview and update the surface cleaning requirements needed for inspection and examinations.
Determine the pressure test requirements for pressure vessels after alterations or major repairs, i.e., type of test, test medium, test pressure, test gauges, duration, regulatory requirements and forms.
I dentify and document any required repairs, including ensuring all regulatory rules are followed and completing regulatory forms.
S pecify any special equipment access requirements, including all safety conditions and permissions.
M aintain permanent and progressive records of all pressure vessels and pressure relieving devices, including adding new information pertinent to the operation, inspection, and maintenance history of the equipment.
Meet fundamental cGMP requirements relating to conduct and work practices to ensure the SISPQ (Safety, Identity, Strength, Purity, Quality) of the products manufactured at Evonik Tippecanoe Laboratories.
REQUIREMENTS:
Possess a combination of education and experience as required by the State of Indiana. A high school diploma or the equivalent, plus three (3) years experience in design, construction, operation, or inspection of power boilers and unfired pressure vessels meets these requirements. Possession of a current National Board commission, inspector’s license issued by another state, API 510 certification is preferred.
Able to attend the required offsite training, take and pass a National Board examination, and obtain the Inservice Inspector (IS) Commission from National Board and an Inspector License from the State of Indiana.
Demonstrated ability to perform complex troubleshooting, problem solving, and program improvements.
Proficient in the use of computer systems. Able to develop proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office suite.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
Strong time management skills
Strong planning, organization and documentation skills
Physical Requirements
Vision that is correctable to 20/20 (per Code).
Will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Able to ascend/descend stairs and ladders
Able to enter and exit the interior of tanks and vessels (confined spaces) on a daily basis
May be required to work in a high noise/high temperature environment
May be required to work outside in an uncontrolled environment
May be required to operate motorized vehicles
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance
Ability to operate powered equipment
Working Conditions
Typical shifts are 8 hour days Monday-Friday.
Flexibility in work hours may occasionally be required for contact with those working nights and weekends
