This is a non-union positionWe are looking to hire a Manager of Gas Control that will oversee the pipeline facilities through subordinate levels down to the gas controllers controlling the real-time operation of compressor stations, pipeline facilities to maximize the volumes handled in the most economical method. This requires 24-hour supervision of system requirements, storage field operations, and monitoring of compressor stations to achieve safe, reliable operations. Here’s what you will do:
Provide direction and oversight of the daily operation of the pipeline systems.
Utilize engineering and operational data to optimize control levels of pipeline operation and directs (managers and coordinators); to the gas controllers, to achieve desired goals.
Oversee efficient and safe operation of all pipeline facilities – this is the second level of supervision in the event of an emergency.
Actively participate with Engineering, Business Development, Capacity Planning, and other departments with the development of new projects that would affect Gas Control and the control of the pipeline systems.
Provide guidance to Gas Control staff regarding planning of system outages and possible implementation of curtailments due to capacity constraints.
Direct the use, development, and implementation of the System Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and provides the forward-looking vision for improvement of communication through technology for a more informed and efficient control room.
Ensure compliance in all aspects the Control Room Management rule, including review of all mandatory reports and the SET Control Room Management and Alarm Management Plan, Gas Control SOP’s, and compliance with Management of Change (MOC) processes.
Supervise and coordinate daily activities with the gas control centers of other pipeline companies.
Preplan and assists for facility outages on their systems, thereby controlling the impact on our pipeline operation.
Represent the company in operational arrangements with other pipeline companies, producers, and customers on pressure, flows, and special timing on deliveries to avoid loss of service and/or loss of revenue.
Serve on industry-wide committees and groups assuring we have input to industry standards and knowledge of what other pipeline companies are doing.
Who you are:
You have:
Related technical diploma or university degree.
Minimum of 10 years of responsible experience in natural gas pipeline operations and gas control center management, control, planning and budgeting.
Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience.
Must have a thorough understanding of gas control, gas pipeline operations, daily scheduling process, gas measurement, transportation contracts, tariffs, SCADA, and related IT applications requirements.
Proficient in basic PC skills and MS software programs.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer focus skills.
Strong leadership abilities and flexibility.
Problem solving and critical/logical assessment skills essential to resolve complicated issues under potential crisis conditions.
Working Conditions:
Work with all levels of staff including senior Enbridge leaders in Houston offices and senior leaders representing third party owners.
Stressful working conditions due to continuous pressure to monitor and respond to changing system operating conditions and needs. Also, stressful situations related to daily operational plans and customer responses to these plans.
Work performed in typical office environments and/or home related to 24/7 requirements.
Minimal Canada & field office travel (5% – 10%), as most customer interaction is in Houston.
24/7 business requirements with assigned staff on duty at all times. Managers are called as needed.
The noise level in the environment is moderate.

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:
Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.
