ANNOUNCEMENT: Southwestern Illinois College is accepting applications for a full-time, tenure track
position of Program Coordinator/Instructor in the Education Program.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
In accordance with the Mission and Values of Southwestern Illinois College, the successful applicant will serve as an instructor and program
coordinator for the Education Program. As coordinator, the incumbent will be responsible for the organization, administration, review,
development, and overall effectiveness of the program. As an instructor, the incumbent will develop, teach and maintain courses in education
(elementary, middle, secondary, and paraprofessional) in both traditional and online environments.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Earned Master’s degree, from a regionally accredited institution
of higher education, appropriate to the teaching assignment is required.
2. At least five years of teaching experience in the K-12
system.
3. Knowledge of Illinois teacher licensure requirements and endorsements.
4. Familiar with Model Programs of Study
(Education) and dual credit.
5. Successful teaching experience in higher education, including online curriculum, is strongly
preferred.
6. Experience with transfer guides and 2+2 agreements preferred.
7. Strong oral and written communication,
organization, and interpersonal skills.
8. Background with administrative activities including, but not limited to advising,
curriculum development, scheduling, and staffing.
9. Experience with assessment of student learning, strategic planning and
accreditation.
10. Shall meet minimum standards of instruction established by the Administration and the Board of Trustees for any
assigned courses.
SALARY: This is a nine-month coordinator/teaching position with the salary
determined by placement on the salary schedule. For example, the starting salary at Step 3 on the Degree column for the 2023-2024 Academic
Year is $53,531 with a Master’s Degree. Additional compensation will be provided for required summer coordination and teaching duties.
Overload teaching assignments may also be available which may increase the annual compensation. The College offers a comprehensive flexible
benefit program.
WORK LOCATION: Belleville Campus with district-wide responsibilities.
