Position Summary:
Direct Supply is building the future of healthcare technology with industry-leading products, solutions and platforms to help improve the lives of millions of seniors and those who care for them.
In the System Engineer role you’ll help to drive our planning, implementation, support, and monitoring of Direct Supply’s corporate and cloud platforms. You’ll need to be a focused and technically agile individual who will leverage your knowledge of systems to help design, test, install and support internal and external platforms, as well as troubleshoot, resolve problems and make improvements. We’re looking for a team member who has a broad familiarity with a variety of the network and cloud concepts, practices, procedures and products, with the willingness and desire to display an ownership model to their technical platforms.

What You’ll Do and Impact:
Collaborate and manage tech platform projects.
Monitor and manage production platforms.
Assist with developing design principles, models, plans, internal standards, and processes based on industry best practices and implement them.
Participate in the selection of system technologies and products for implementation including the physical installation of selected equipment.
Troubleshoot and resolve platform issues.
Take a hands-on problem solving approach to infrastructure design and operational issues by utilizing tools (ie Wireshark), data and software to overcome infrastructure design issues and failures.
Make recommendations to improve infrastructure operations and deployment as needed to support reliability.
Participate in daily operations by performing moves/adds/changes and provide 2nd tier troubleshooting support.
Develop and implement proactive methods for monitoring platforms.
Support system health through capacity management and trending recommendations.
Work with project teams and platform technology to maintain or exceed quality expectations, deliver on project timelines, control costs and provide outrageous customer communication.
Partner with team members to deliver results within a fast-paced and agile environment.
Combine strong attention to detail with an orientation towards business outcome and results.
Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Information Technology or equivalent years of experience.
2-4+ years of system administration experience.
Understanding and/or experience working with cloud infrastructure patterns using GitLab, CI/CD and Terraform are a plus.
Participate in on-call, after hours maintenance and occasional weekend support work.
Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. (e.g. switch or router equipment, UPS batteries, etc.) unassisted using safe moving or lifting techniques.
Availability to travel between campuses (North Milwaukee to Downtown Milwaukee) as needed to provide support.
Additional Areas of Interest:
Experience with AWS platform and technologies, as well as other cloud based platforms.
Experience with infrastructure as code and configuration tools/languages such as PowerShell, and Chef.
Experience with MS Teams, Azure, MFA, Exchange/O365 administration or Sharepoint administration.
Experience with Linux operating systems.
Knowledge of networking technologies, including Wi-Fi, VPN, and/or Firewall Administration.
Experience with enterprise class storage systems, server systems, hypervisors, or class management and monitoring systems.
