Job Title: Assistant or Associate Professor of Education
Department: Education Department
Reports To: Chair, Education Department
Location: On-site
FLSA Status: Exempt
Time Requirements: Full-time; 40 hours per week, but hours may exceed 40 hours per week during peak times (examples include, but are not limited to, campus events and accreditation visits)
Supervisory Responsibilities: May occasionally supervise graduate assistants and/or staff assigned for particular tasks
Summary Description: The Assistant/Associate Professor of Education will work collaboratively to help prepare students for licensure as teachers. The position involves teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, advising undergraduate and graduate students, engaging in state-level work, and a willingness to engage in scholarly research.
Essential Functions:
Education: Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Education, or Ed.S. with significant P-12 experience, ability to teach courses in Special Education
Experience: Three years of teaching experience (Special Education required) in P-12 settings, Teaching experience at the college level preferred
Required Skills: Excellent communication skills, including active listening skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously; willingness to collaborate with campus and P-12 colleagues in preparation of teacher candidates for P-12 settings
