I. Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
The Oncology Program Coordinator in collaboration with the Nurse Manager is responsible for integration, facilitation and coordination of services for this patient population. Responsible for development and implementation of initiatives to positively impact quality patient care as evidenced by improved patient outcomes measured by ACoS, CMS, and JCAHO.
II. Employment Qualifications
Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing, MSN required.
Must be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Virginia or awaiting reciprocity.
Is an advanced clinician with a minimum of 5 years’ experience with oncology patients.
Oncology Nurse Certification by ONS required.
Must maintain current CPR certification.
Knowledge of nursing processes, medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, disease processes, statistics, statistical process control and information systems.
Effective organizational, planning, negotiating, coaching, and conceptual thinking skills.
Excellent oral and written communications skills.
Knowledge of hospital policies and nursing policies and procedures.
Experience with Word, Excel, graphic, and database software.
Knowledge of regulatory standards (State laws, JCAHO standards and conditions of Participation).
Analytical skills necessary to interpret quantitative and qualitative data relevant to service line.
Interpersonal and problem-solving skills necessary to interact with executives and staff.
Ability to recognize and capitalize on marketing opportunities.
Ability to work with surgeons and referring physician base.
