Position Overview
The development of
NXTGEN Teach with a focus on Special Education seeks to address long-standing state needs, position the University of Minnesota as a ready
partner for school districts statewide seeking to access state funding for teacher preparation, and create new tuition generating pathways,
all while creating a model that may be applied to other areas of teacher licensure in the future. The College of Education and Human
Development at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities campus will collaborate with colleagues system-wide to expand teacher licensure
opportunities throughout the U of M system by facilitating program development and implementation across campuses that will lead to degrees
and teacher licensure in multiple state shortage areas of Special Education, including:
The NXTGEN Teach Program Director will work closely with teacher
licensure program and unit leaders across the U of MN system to develop and initiate implementation of new pathways to teacher licensure
across multiple areas of special education. Responsibilities focus on convening, coordinating, and fostering partnerships across multiple
campuses in order to refine course offerings and codify policies and procedures associated with undergraduate- and graduate-level teacher
preparation across campuses. This is a full-time program director position for two years and will report to the Assistant Dean of
Professional and Online Education.
