Job Summary
This position is a part of a dynamic team supporting a new product line within Phoenix Contact. It will focus on three core needs for the network and security products offered by Phoenix Contact. The first being a pre-sales engineering specialist to help collect customer requirements and recommend the correct system solution to meet customer needs. The second is to own the application and integration topics related to the network and security products develop by the automation infrastructure team. The final being a level 3/4 support specialist for the product lines developed by the automation infrastructure team for the global subsidiaries of Phoenix Contact. Meeting these needs is crucial for the success of the ethernet product lines from Phoenix Contact.
Key Responsibilities
Own and maintain application architecture and requirements documentation based on industry vertical
Identify and test possible system integrations to provide new features for customer solutions such as network monitoring, IDS/IPS, next-generation firewalls, Log collection, SCADA etc…
Work with technology partners to build PoCs and application guidelines for partner software/hardware when using our products
Participate in global initiatives related to networking services, solution architecting, in cooperation with Vertical Market Management and the IMA sales group
Assist in the Global Support Structure for international project pursuit, as related to Network Services, SLAs, consulting, and training
Provide engineering support to marketing for competitive benchmarking, compatibility or interoperability testing, and creation of reference application architectures
Assist with the writing of functional specifications, customer value proposition statements, and expected benefit or loss (if not implemented) of a product or application concept.
Support the subsidiary sales organization through application-based training programs and joint sales efforts.
Review opportunities presented by sales subsidiaries, customers, standards organizations, and other sources. Analyze all aspects of the opportunity and make recommendations on if and how the opportunity should proceed.
Must-Have Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in a technical field with at least 3 years of related industry experience or general college degree with at least 7 years of industry experience.
Ability to collaborate with multi-disciplined, international, and cross-culture teams in a network development project.
Expertise in network architecture, network audits, network and security design
Expertise in industrial control systems architecture and communication protocols
Excellent communication skills (verbal/written) and presentation skills.
Proven track record of problem solving by analyzing situation and providing recommended path forward
A working knowledge of IEC/ISA 62443 standard
10 to 30% travel to be expected.
We Value
Experience with the creation and negotiation of business contracts is a plus.
Experience performing network and/or security audits is a plus.
An understanding of IEC 61850 and the concept of digital substations is a plus.
Certifications such as CCIE, CCNA, CCNP, GSEC, GICSP, GRID, CISSP, Network+, or Security+ are desirable
Must Be Able To…
Travel by air for trips up to 14 hours.
Have a valid driver’s license and be able to ride in a car for 4 hours at a time.
Receive a passport, and be able to travel overseas several times per year.
Work at a desk with a computer for up to eight hours per day.
Sit/and or stand for extended periods of time (2-4 hours at a time)
Drive or fly to distant customer locations, suppliers, or events and stay overnight for extended periods.
