BASIC PURPOSE:
The Room Service Server is to provide friendly service to our guest and create a memorable in-room dining experience.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
This description is a summary of primary responsibilities and qualifications. The job description is not intended to include all duties or qualifications that may be required now or in the future. The Hotel operates 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, so operational demands require variation s in shift days, starting times, and hours worked in a week.
• Coordinating phone and in-person orders and communicating with front and back of house personnel to provide a dining experience that meets or exceeds guest expectations. Serve guests with beverages, breads and butter to begin their dining experience and replenish as necessary.
• A Room Service Server will promptly deliver these meals to the room, after verifying accuracy of order.
• Promptly clear dirty trays from hall.
• Transport all dirty tableware to dishwashing area for proper cleaning. Promptly and carefully sort soiled ware so that it can be put through the dish or pot machine properly.
• Guests come first. Ensure a quality experience with each interaction.
• Perform general/routine cleaning tasking using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned by Supervisor to adhere to health standards.
• Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
• Provides for a safe work environment by following all safety and security procedures and rules.
• All team members must maintain a neat, clean, and well groomed appearance (specific standards outlined in team member handbook).
• Perform any related duties as requested by management.
EDUCATION: High School education or equivalent experience.
EXPERIENCE: Hotel experience preferred, but not required.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
• Availability: Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be able to acquire Food Handler Certification within 30 days of employment.
• Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations, and etiquette.
• Must have excellent communication, organizational and guest relations’ skills.
• Knowledge of the appropriate table settings and service ware preferred.
• Basic knowledge of the English language sufficient to understand inquiries from customers and communicate simple instructions.
• Ability to operate beverage equipment, e.g., coffee maker.
• Ability to comprehend and apply written product labeling instructions to enable the safe application of products and processes within the hotel.
• Ability to stand, walk and/or sit and continuously perform essential job functions for duration of shift.
• Ability to lift and move multiple tables and chairs and podiums weighing up to 80 lbs. through a crowded room. This position requires considerable physical activity on a continuous basis throughout the shift for room set up and breaks down.
• Ability to grasp, lift, carry, push, and pull goods on hand cart weighing up to 100 lbs.
• Frequent twisting, bending, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, talking, hearing, seeing, and smiling.
