Junior Counselor-
Junior Counselors will work with Senior Counselors to create a positive and safe environment for campers. Junior Counselors will be in cabins that house 8-13 campers typically aged 7-12, and usually two senior counselors. Junior Counselors will take an active role in working with campers and leading activities such as, archery, canoeing, sailing, skiing, zipline, and many more while learning from the Senior Counselors they work with. Food and lodging are provided during the resident care of campers and/or program delivery. This position is designed for 17-year-olds, if you will be older than that by May 19, 2024, please apply for a Senior Counselor position!
Senior Counselor-
Senior counselors are responsible for working directly with children and play an integral role in the development of building strong character values in youth. Typically, a cabin will have 2 senior counselors, and a junior counselor, to oversee 8-13 kids aged between 7-15. Senior counselors will also lead activities such as sailing, skiing, archery, canoeing, zipline and many more. Food and lodging are provided during the resident care of campers and/or program delivery. This position is for those who will be over the age of 18 by May 19, 2024.
Wrangler-
Camp Grady Spruce is looking for passionate horse wranglers! We are home to 25 horses, and over 1000 campers over the summer! You will work hand in hand with the equestrian director and head wrangler on the day-to-day horse activities with the campers. You’ll be responsible for the groups that come to ride horses. Help in getting horses ready for the activities and feeding horses. Will also help keep trails maintained and corral areas clean. Private board and free food are included! A background in horses is preferred!
At Camp Grady Spruce we offer weeklong overnight camp, kids will arrive on Sunday afternoon and leave Saturday morning. There are 8 sessions in the summer, counselors are expected to work at least 6, wranglers are required to work all 8. There are 2 weeks of training starting May 19, 2024. It is important to be here for both weeks if possible. The first week focuses on hard skills like ski boat driving, sailing, zipline operations, and lifeguard training. The second week focuses on soft skills like engaging campers and successfully leading a cabin.
