Responsibilities:
Work with the Department Chair and/or a designated faculty member to understand Whittier College’s teacher education programs and how the course they teach fits within relevant scopes & sequences.
Participate in the Faculty-Adjunct Kick-Off
Plan and deliver instruction for the designated course (description and course goals below).
Monitor student learning, assign and input final grades.
Course Description & Goals:
Education 408/508 is a three-credit course designed to introduce single-subject teacher candidates to curriculum planning and assessment. This course will engage candidates in thinking about the decision-making process surrounding what and how we teach, as well as how we monitor student learning. Topics include California subject matter standards, formative and summative assessment strategies, and curriculum analysis.
(1) Students will be able to analyze curricular materials’ purposes, intended uses, and assumptions about students & learning; (2) Students will understand how to use a variety of assessments during instruction in order to monitor student learning and inform instruction; (3) Students will gain experience collaborating with a variety of educational partners (e.g., peers, faculty, school site personnel).

Minimum Qualifications:
M.A., MAT, or MEd. in Education or related field.
Minimum 3 years successful teaching experience in a K-12 public school setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctoral Degree in Education, Human Development or related field.
Prior Experience teaching in CA teacher credential program
Prior middle or high school teaching experience in CA public school.
