The School of Inclusive Teacher Education (formerly the School of Teaching and Learning)
invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Science Education with a start date of August 2024. This is a 9-month
appointment.
The mission of the School of Inclusive Teacher Education is to build and sustain a dynamic, collaborative community of
highly skilled teachers for all levels of education, thereby increasing graduates’ options and those of their students for lives as
independent, productive, and contributing citizens. The School is committed to rigorous scholarship, innovative teaching and learning, and
civic and professional engagement that places high value on the diversity of individuals and communities in a global society. There are
approximately 2000 undergraduate students and more than 200 graduate students in seven initial licensure programs and four graduate
programs, with numerous endorsements and certificates. These programs are guided by more than fifty full-time faculty and staff.
The
College of Education and Human Development, BGSU’s founding college, is the home to a dynamic and disciplinary diverse group of graduate and
undergraduate programs, housed across three academic units: the School of Applied Human Development; the School of Counseling, Higher
Education, Leadership, and Foundations; and the School of Inclusive Teacher Education. The College is committed to promoting and supporting

Essential Functions
1. Teach science education and/or integrated STEM/STEAM education courses (face-to-face, blended, online), including field experiences,
in programs leading to licensure in grades PreK-8 and/or in graduate programs, depending on school needs.
2. Establish and maintain a
productive research line leading to peer-reviewed publications and presentations and engage in grant writing activities as
appropriate.
3. Participate in student advising and in program development.
4. Contribute to the school, college, university, and the
profession through select service activities.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Earned doctorate in Early Childhood Education,
Elementary Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or closely related field with a focus on science education or STEM/STEAM education.
Candidates who are ABD at time of application may be considered. Degree must be conferred prior to appointment in August 2024.
2.
Demonstrated evidence of scholarly activities, including research investigations, publications, presentations at professional conferences,
and/or grant writing.
3. A minimum of two years professional experience working with elementary and/or middle school students (e.g.,
classroom teacher, special education teacher, or other related service provider in educational settings).
4. Demonstrated commitment to
diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice (e.g., through culturally relevant pedagogy, curriculum development, teaching, research,
service) and preparing educators to work with diverse populations.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Experience
collaborating between special education and general education.
2. Experience in teaching at the college level.
