Description
The Department of Curriculum and Instruction periodically hires qualified individuals for full-time
and part-time faculty/instructor positions in our teacher education program. Successful applicants for these temporary, non-tenure track
positions may contribute to a large field-based teacher preparation program, potentially including coordinating and/or supervising field
experiences and student teaching. Responsibilities may also include teaching undergraduate courses (and potentially graduate courses for
holders of a doctoral degree), supervising student teachers/interns and/or coordinating elementary level cohorts of pre-service teachers.
Positions are not available every semester; positions and FTE percentage is contingent on department need and budgetary considerations from
semester to semester.
Qualifications
A master’s degree is required; doctoral degree is preferred for all positions and
required for graduate teaching assignments. Candidates should have excellent communication skills and a student-centered approach to
teaching that reflects our commitments to linguistically and culturally diverse students and communities. The ideal applicant will have
demonstrated teaching excellence at the college/university level, as well as a record of research and publishing. At least three years of
K-12 teaching experience in U. S. public schools is required. Title is in the Professor of Practice/Instruction series, and rank (assistant,
associate, or full professor) dependent on duties, experience, and qualifications.
Application Instructions
To apply
for this position, upload a letter of application, current vita, and list of at least 3 references with name, title, and contact
information. Semester by semester decisions will be made by December 1 for Spring semester and by April 15 for each Fall semester. To keep
your file active for consideration, it is recommended that you periodically update any/all your applicant materials. Pre-employment
screening includes verification of academic credentials and background check.
