ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
The University of South Florida (USF) College of Education is a community of faculty,
students, and staff focused on transforming lives through the promotion of equity, social justice, and improved outcomes for students and
communities particularly those that have been underserved. The College of Education has a presence on all three campuses within USF. The USF
St. Petersburg campus offers undergraduate degrees as well as graduate degrees that are specific to this campus in addition to working with
degrees that are spread across all three campuses. Our undergraduate degree is unique in the USF System as is two of our graduate degrees.
There are multiple faculty members on this campus in addition to staff and student assistants. We also run several K-16 Initiatives,
programs like UMatter and Call Me MiSTER, as well as teach some undergraduate general education courses.
The Department of
Curriculum, Instruction, and Learning (CIL) is a multi-campus academic unit, with faculty on all three campuses of the University of South
Florida. The CIL Department provides undergraduate, graduate, and in-service programs and learning experiences that reflect collaboration
with stakeholders, incorporation of professional practice standards, and alignment with state, national, and international standards. The
faculty and staff of the CIL Department are committed to preparing lifelong learners who are ready to consider multiple perspectives;
embrace diversity, equity, and advocacy; think critically; and make informed, evidence-based decisions.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The
USF College of Education undergraduate major allows our students to get certified in K-6 Elementary, K-12 ESOL, K-12 ESE, as well as
obtaining their reading endorsement. We also have two graduate degree programs in STEM Education, one for K-5 In-service teachers, the other
for 6-12 teachers. This position is expected to commence on August 7th, 2023. This position is a non-tenure track nine-month faculty
position and will report directly to the CIL department chair and indirectly report to the Campus Dean of the College of Education on the
USF St. Petersburg campus.
The College of Education at the University of South Florida (USF) – St. Petersburg campus invites
applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Instruction – Science Education for the 2023-2024 academic year. This position’s dates of
employment will be August 7th, 2023 – May 5th, 2024.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Education &
Experience):
MINIMUM:
Master’s degree from an accredited institution in science or STEM education or equivalent qualifications
based on professional experience and otherwise qualified to perform assigned duties.
PREFERRED:
Doctorate in Science or STEM
education (or Educational Specialist) or related field with an undergraduate degree in the sciences from an accredited institution.
Knowledge of learning management systems such as Canvas. Experience designing, leading, and facilitating high quality professional
development workshops. Florida Professional Educator Certificate. Experience with Florida public school settings.
This position
does not qualify for sponsorship at USF.
