Department Summary
University of North Texas is a Tier One Research University in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex – the fourth-largest metropolitan area in the United States. Position Summary
The Department of Teacher Education and Administration (TE&A) in the College of Education at The University of North Texas (UNT) seeks an Executive in Residence in Educational Leadership, beginning Fall 2024. This appointment is a professional track, one-year appointment with the possibility of annual renewal. Of particular interest to the College of Education are candidates who are committed to improving people’s lives through powerful learning, social-motional wellness, physical health, and civic engagement. This is a part-time position at 50% FTE.
Similarly, the College of Education is interested in candidates who have experience in and commitment to preparing scholar practitioners as change agents, to lead the transformation of complex systems and organizations through scholarly inquiry and the resolution of problems of practice and policy in educational settings. The position requires experience as a school superintendent with knowledge of superintendent competencies and expertise in school districts in major metropolitan areas in Texas.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be expected to teach masters and doctoral courses (offered at the UNT campus and other off-site locations and online); advise graduate students and supervise graduate students in internships as needed; serve on and chair doctoral committees; and provide service to the Department, College, University, community constituencies, K-12 systems and professional organizations. Summer teaching is contingent on student demand and funding. Of particular importance will be outreach to K-12 systems including establishing strong, mutually beneficial networks and partnerships; serving as liaison for field-based work between districts and the university, including the facilitation of research projects between university faculty and K-12, organizing and leading symposia and conferences relevant to current problems of practice; recruitment of graduate students.
