The University of New
Mexico-Valencia is seeking applicants for the position of Supv, Student
Success. The successful applicant will have experience supporting student
success through wraparound services to include, but not limited to: academic
advisement/coaching, financial aid and scholarship support, facilitating
academic success workshops, tutoring and resource referral, early alert
referrals and specialized outreach for targeted student groups.
The position will act as the
supervisor for the other advisors/student success specialists who work within
the Enrollment Management and Student Success department. Through a
student-centered approach, this person will manage and support the other
advisors in ensuring the service delivery is consistent in providing advisement
and coaching in support of student success. The position will provide
day-to-day problem solving as necessary on student needs and issues. This
person will collaborate with staff and faculty to ensure student needs are
being met. The applicant works as part of a dynamic team to implement new
strategies and procedures specific to UNM Valencia. This person serves as a
liaison interacting with internal and external constituencies. This person will
also track students’ academic and overall progress and monitor the service
delivery model and services provided to the student. The individual will
ensure compliance with Federal, State, and University rules, regulations, and
policies. The Supervisor, Student Success will provide wrap-around services to
Hispanic and/or low-income students as well as connect students to direct
resources to support their success in college.
This position will supervise
personnel which includes recommendations for hiring, performance evaluation,
and training; present and deliver programs, presentations, and/or workshops
that enrich the student experience and promote outreach and retention efforts;
and facilitate and lead various cross-functional teams and interdepartmental
committees.
Located about 30 miles south of
Albuquerque in rural Valencia county, the University of New Mexico-Valencia
Campus is a two-year branch campus of the University of New Mexico which
functions as a community college in the region and is designated a Hispanic Serving
Institution. With an emphasis on teaching excellence, Valencia Campus
offers academic transfer programs, technical vocational programs, Adult Basic
Education, and Dual Credit High School/College courses to Valencia and Socorro
Counties. The faculty and staff serve a student body of over 2,000 credit
students per semester. UNM has earned the platinum-level distinction from FamilyFriendlyNM.org for
its workplace policies.
Bachelor’s degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
