Summary of Job Duties:As a tutor for the Data Science program, your primary responsibility will be to help facilitate undergraduate student learning and enhance understanding in programming languages such as R and Python. As the Data Science programming tutor, you will work closely with students, helping them grasp the foundations of these two versatile languages. You will be expected to plan and maintain weekly tutoring sessions and attend course lectures to empower students to harness their full potential of learning Python & R for data analysis. You will also be responsible for maintaining effective communication with students and DASC faculty & staff. Business casual attire will be required.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Admitted or current University of Arkansas graduate or undergraduate student
Have a minimum GPA of 3.0
Junior standing or above
Programming experience in Python and/or R
Preferred Qualifications:
Must have previously completed Calculus I and/or Calculus II or equivalent
Previous experience with tutoring or teaching
Students who have two or more years of programming experience in Python and/or R
Students who have completed Calculus III, Linear Algebra, 3000-level or higher calculus-based statistics course or equivalent
Experience with software development version control systems such as GIT and GITHUB
