Summary of Job Duties:KUAF’s Broadcast Engineer operates, maintains, updates, and repairs hardware and systems used across terrestrial radio, digital streams, HD signals, podcasts and other channels, ensuring that programs are broadcast on time to the highest possible quality level. This position also maintains equipment and broadcast systems owned and operated by KUAF, including production studios and computers, automation software, KUAF’s in-house audio and computer network, and other systems used as a part of KUAF’s mission. The Broadcast Engineer will maintain all broadcast equipment and related systems operated and maintained by KUAF, which include 11 personal computers for staff, 10 production studios, and 6 computers that are a part of KUAF’s internal network.
This position requires the willingness to accept 24/7 on-call response for emergencies. The Broadcast Engineer must professionally communicate with internal and external constituencies verbally, in writing, and in person.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is an understanding and commitment to KUAF’s mission and community service. The ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others is necessary as well.

Minimum Qualifications:
At least 5 years professional audio or radio engineering experience
Experience in creating or maintaining information technology systems and computer network systems in a professional setting
Ability to diagnose and repair equipment, ability to anticipate necessary equipment, software, and program updates and changes
Strong computer skills in a PC and MAC environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field, i.e. broadcast or audio engineering, electrical or computer engineering, computer scienceor Bachelor’s degree in any field coupled with an equivalent professional certification program, which may include a two-year associate degree
Experience creating or maintaining information technology systems and computer network systems in a professional setting
Familiarity with public radio programming and distribution systems
Demonstrated proficient knowledge of professional radio and internet-based broadcast equipment and software, including Simian automation software
