Position Summary:
The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) and Bachelor of Science in
Teaching (BST) programs seek to hire a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month, tenure-track, Assistant or Associate Professor of Education. The
position is located at Oregon State University-Cascades, a branch campus in Bend, Oregon.
We are actively seeking candidates who have
the qualifications and experiences to contribute to the teaching, preparation, and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students in
teaching and engage in research. An active research program and participation in service to the campus, profession, and community are
expected.
OSU-Cascades, located in Bend, Oregon, is a branch campus of Oregon State University. Established in 2001, the university
currently enrolls more than 1,200 students in bachelor’s and graduate degree programs. The campus expanded to a four-year university in
2015, opened its 10-acre campus in fall 2016, and the Oregon legislature approved additional funding in 2017 and 2018 for continued campus
expansion, which is currently in progress. The branch campus has ambitious enrollment goals to reach 3,000 students by 2025 and is engaged
in building a culturally diverse and community-centric educational environment.
The mission of the College of Education, is to
develop multi-culturally competent researchers, scholars, learning leaders and practitioners who make a difference by promoting innovation,
social justice, and lifelong learning with a focus on cultural and linguistic diversity and science, technology, engineering, and
mathematics (STEM). Our research and professional preparation fosters scholarship, intellectual stimulation, openness, flexibility, and a
sense of community.
Position Duties
60% – Teaching, Advising and Program Support:
Teach in-person
courses offered by the MAT and undergraduate teacher preparation programs on the OSU-Cascades campus. Participate in curriculum development
and assessment. Assume leadership for projects and programs, and participate in teaching program decisions. Advise and serve as major
advisor or committee members for MAT students. Participate in MAT admissions processes.
30% – Research and
Scholarship:
Engage in research that is original, validated, and communicated so as to have impact beyond the university in
the fields of teaching and learning. Conduct empirical and/or applied research related to teaching, learning or related aspects of modern
education. Generate external funding for research. Publish the results of original research in competitive peer-reviewed journals. Present
current research findings at national and regional conferences. Engage colleagues and students in research as appropriate. Validation of
scholarship will be through sustained publication in competitive peer-reviewed journals and invitations by peers to participate in scholarly
activities such as discipline specific conferences, research presentations and symposia.
Duties may include travel to research sites,
community partners, the Corvallis campus, and conferences.
10% – Professional Service:
Provide collegial and
constructive service to the OSU-Cascades campus, College of Education, university, and professional organizations. Serve on program, college
and university committees. Contribute to professional activities within the education community. Engage in community outreach. Show
initiative and cooperative spirit in carrying out obligations as a member of the University and as a state employee.

Successful teaching
and advising in a graduate education program.
Eligible for an Oregon K-12 teaching license.
Experience in university
leadership role(s).
Evidence of successful design or enactment of teacher professional development initiatives.
Evidence of
cross-disciplinary collaboration.
Experience using and applying technology in education, particularly for online delivery of
coursework.
Significant involvement with relevant professional organizations.
Experience working within a program cohort
model
Evidence of successful graduate student advising.
Strong methodological skills in qualitative, quantitative, and/or
mixed methods and the various research designs associated with these methods.
