Position Summary:

Group Therapists provide patients with the opportunity to learn and grow by teaching valuable skills applicable to everyday life in a group setting. They work with patients 1:1 to implement individualized treatment plans, helping each patient reach their/her/his specific goals. They are also valuable members of a multidisciplinary team which allows the Group Therapists to collaborate on treatment decisions and to help create treatment plans.

Qualifications

Education:

Required – Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a mental health profession and mental health field experience. Current WA State license in a mental health profession – LMHCA, LMFTA, or Social Worker Associate. Associate licensees must provide proof of Approved Supervisor documented with WA Department of Health and be on track for full licensure.

Preferred – Independent license as LICSW, LMHC, or LMFT with 3 years post-Master’s degree experience in a psychiatric health care setting.

Additional requirements:

• Direct experience with group therapies, crisis intervention, and treatment planning required
• Strong clinical assessment and case conceptualization skills required
• Required trainings provided by Fairfax – CPR, First Aid, Handle with Care, and Verbal De-escalation

11. Ability to perform accurately in an environment with high levels of stimuli

13. Ability to demonstrate tact, resourcefulness, patience, and dedication
14. Ability to accept direction and to adhere to policies and procedures
15. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities
16. Ability to perform repetitive tasks and to work at a rapid pace
17. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations

Physical, mental, and special demands:

1. Hand and finger dexterity for the use of computer equipment
2. Ability to sit for extended periods of time, up to eight (8) hours at a time
3. Ability to stand and walk for up to six (6) hours at a time
4. Ability to move flexibly for filing and retrieving of medical records
5. Ability to lift, bend, stoop, twist, pull, and push is required
6. Visual acuity is required for accurate communication of departmental and medical information
7. Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 10 pounds (e.g., charts, records)
8. Ability to work in an environment in which the noise level is frequently high; where chemicals are frequently used for cleaning; where mechanical and electrical hazards may occasionally be present; and where dust, mist, and steam are frequently generated in housekeeping tasks
9. Ability to respond as trained when exposed to blood and bodily fluids
10. Ability to participate in the management of acutely agitated patients consistent with Handle with Care hospital procedures
