The Clinical Engineering Site Lead (CESL) is a front-line operations role assigned at an affiliate site responsible for guiding the Clinical Engineering medical equipment service and maintenance responsibilities. This position reports directly to a Clinical Engineering Supervisor.

Responsibilities
Lead/Supervisory * Assists the CE Supervisor with overseeing the daily operations of the Clinical Engineering team for assigned area of responsibility. Including staffing, scheduling, staff communications, work order completion, billing, and coordination of staff meetings * Leads and performs duties necessary to meet the current and future operational strategies of UPH CE in order to meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting metrics. * Provides leadership to staff that encourages empowerment, decision making, and planning to ensure efficient and effective operations. * Assists with the recruitment & retention assigned staff as requested by Supervisor or Manager. * Directs and maintains positive customer relations in turn sustaining the highest level of customer satisfaction at the assigned affiliate site(s). Recommends corrective action to supervisor or manager when needed. * Leads completion of project management assignments, escalation of recommendations/concerns, assists with plan review and recommendations as assigned. * Provides positive leadership and staff engagement mentoring to and through all assigned support staff. Staff engagement is measured periodically and results indicating an engaged team are the responsibility of the affiliate site manager. * Partners effectively with and maintain vendor support relationships to effectively deliver services on behalf of UnityPoint Health. Providing feedback on performance as needed to Supervisor/Manager. * Provide adequate feedback and documentation to Supervisor/Manager in order to manage budgets, preparation of operating and capital budgets, and ensure appropriate fiscal operations of assigned staff and affiliate(s) |
Technical * Performs electrical safety testing and quality assurance inspections for all general medical devices. * Must be able to understand and demonstrate required troubleshooting skills, decipher electronic schematics and use of service manual documentation. * Responsible for recording in the Clinical Engineering CMMS software database any assigned medical device service or maintenance event performed. All recordings are to be accurate and timely in manner to ensure integrity of all CMMS archived medical device and staff work performance history. * Must be able to understand and demonstrate delivery of all identified KPI’s of the UPH Clinical Engineering program. * Communicates and updates all clinical customers as to medical equipment service and maintenance events and device status to assure best delivery of care for all UPH affiliate patients. * Provides education to clinical customers as to proper use and operation of medical equipment. * Coordinates and performs both schedule and emergency equipment repairs of general and highly advanced medical devices as assigned seeing them through to completion and return back to the clinical environment. * Must have advanced knowledge and understanding of PC’s and required computer/network operating systems. * Adheres to assigned on-call rotations at assigned affiliate site and follow required availability and reporting to site as identified in the Clinical Engineering On-Call Policy. * Responsible and knowledgeable of all state/federal regulatory and accrediting agency guidelines for healthcare.

Basic UPH Performance Criteria * Demonstrates the UnityPoint Health Values and Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to policies and procedures and safety guidelines. * Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance. * Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position. * Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, TJC, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare. * Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year. * Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.

Education:
|
Associates degree in either a Biomedical Engineering or Information Systems accredited program.
|
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
|
Experience:
|
Minimum of five (5) years’ experience Clinical Engineering, or field service organization.
|
Five (5) years previous experience in a senior level position within Clinical Engineering, or field service organization.
|
License(s)/Certification(s):
|
Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons. |
