The Department of Aeronautics & Astronautics seeks a Financial Analyst to provide budget and financial support to the department. This position will have the exciting opportunity to work directly with all the faculty, students, and staff to advance research and department initiatives. This position will play a critical role in helping execute the budgeting cycle and analyzing financial data to support strategic decisions. The position will report to the Director of Finance and Operations and is expected to be a hybrid work schedule. Come join our team!
Your responsibilities include:
Perform and design adhoc analyses of large complex data sets: reconcile complex accounts. Identify and resolve complex issues which may span multiple areas inside or outside the department.
Construct and assemble data for budgeting and decision making; develop conclusions, and present high-level summary of recommendations. Develop annual budget for the department and subunits.
Conduct analysis and resolution, and recognize exceptions. Participate in developing solutions that may require policy changes or the development of new processes; maintain broader organizational perspective in decision making.
Execute internal control programs established by the department, research new regulations, and recommend and implement approved changes. Manage compliance programs for the department which may involve creating complex compliance reports.
Develop reports and presentations of complex financial data and metrics for a variety of programs.
Contribute to the department financial strategy; assist in the development of change management plans and materials as needed.
Develop and maintain desktop procedures and process documentation for the department.
Participate in critical analysis of existing systems and processes, and identify opportunities for process improvement.
Provide consulting advice to client group(s); serve as a resource on matters that require specific technical, financial, or subject matter expertise; support negotiations with external partners.
May supervise, train, coach, and review the work of other staff, as needed.
Education & Experience (Required):
Bachelor’s degree and four years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (Required):
Advanced proficiency in business applications, such as Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.
Demonstrated knowledge of financial systems; Internet and computer literacy.
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Strong communication skills, including ability to prepare materials for and clearly and effectively communicate information to internal and external audiences and client groups.
Demonstrated project management skills; ability to prioritize and multi-task.
Working Conditions:
Routine extended working hours during peak cycles; travel to school/unit sites across university.
Physical Requirements*:
Constantly sitting.
Frequently perform desk-based computer tasks, use telephone, writing by hand, sort/file paperwork.
Occasionally stand/walk, lift/carry objects weighing 11-20 pounds.
Rarely reach/work above shoulder.

Pay Range:
The expected pay range for this position is $89,000.00 to $118,000.00 per annum.

The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
