About Stanford Sierra Camp & Conference Center
Stanford Sierra Camp & Conference Center is located on the shores of Fallen Leaf Lake right outside South Lake Tahoe, in Northern California. We are currently hiring for a full-time seasonal Nightwatch Custodian to work independently at night from 10pm – 6am, patrolling and cleaning the property. This position runs from mid- April to mid-November on an annual basis and is a 7 month position. The full benefits package is described below which includes year-round health insurance even though this is a 7 month position. Room and board are included at no cost to the employee (yes, we said it, FREE!) on a beautiful waterfront property. Seasonal living doesn’t get better than this!

POSITION SUMMARY: Under general supervision, cleans and patrols buildings and grounds, normally 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM. Cleans assigned areas and sets up meeting rooms, so they are welcoming to guests in the morning. Patrols on foot to monitor safety, security, noise levels, and possible inappropriate behavior, taking action as needed to help prevent and respond to situations that could compromise the safety or well-being of guests or staff, or reflect negatively on the business image of Stanford Sierra Camp. Reports to the Conference Staff Director.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
QUALIFICATIONS: Work experience demonstrating self-motivation and the ability to work independently under little to no supervision is required. Must have well-developed verbal communication skills and good interpersonal judgment skills. Experience must indicate ability to prioritize evolving problems and tasks and a capacity to function effectively under pressure in dealing with others, sometimes in emergency situations. Familiarity with alumni programs or Stanford Sierra Camp & Conference Center is helpful, but not required. Living on-site is preferred but not required. CPR/1st Aid preferred but not required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Frequently required to lift, carry and move up to 50 lbs of supplies, equipment and materials. Regularly walks the grounds patrolling the buildings and overall facilities; may be required to respond very quickly to the location of an emergency; bends, stoops, etc. in the course of security and safety checks, cleaning tasks, and maintenance tasks.
SALARY: Non-exempt hourly position with excellent benefits, which include paid time off (vacation, sick, & holiday pay), a 10% 401k employer contribution after a 1 year waiting period, employer-paid medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and long-term disability for the employee only. Additional spouse/dependent coverage can be elected at the employee’s expense. Meals & lodging are provided on-site. Additional fringe benefits include a flexible spending account and an annual training allowance. During the off-season, December – March, health insurance benefits are still carried and paid for by the employer with the contingency you will be returning the next year (April-November).
