Our client, a technology leader is seeking a Creative Director who has 8-12 years of experience with several years leading a team and working in-house. Will be responsible for building and leading a team to design and develop holistic experiences grounded in User-Centric Design Process. Will be responsible for integrating solutions from the Product Design team, Digital Solution team, and Marketing Services team to create memorable consumer experiences. This role reports to a VP of Digital Design.
Responsibilities:
Inspire and be the thought leader of a multifaceted team of designers (User Experience, Interface, Interaction Designers, UX, and Design Researchers) across multiple US-based locations to build design solutions, innovate products, and ensure the best possible outcome for clients and the business
Cultivate a design quality environment, manage the creative studio, guide high-impact design engagements with sharp deadlines, and lead multiple teams with a variety of skill sets
Lead everyday operations of a digital design team, setting priorities, planning, utilization, and project completion
Lead the team and personally ensure to deliver the highest quality of design direction, style, and methodology
Identify and drive process improvements to meet project and team needs
Monitor and drive your team to best utilize the skillset to exceed client expectations and elevate client engagement
Inspire your creative team with the energy and passion to build a stable growing organization
Effectively communicate, motivate, coach, and develop design excellence
Identify, define, and regularly pitch new opportunities to bring value to client engagements and new business development
Establish credibility throughout the organization as an effective leader
Maintain a presence in the design industry and local design community by writing articles, contributing to publications, speaking at conferences, and/or sitting on panels
Participate in recruiting and hiring a design team to build a group of passionate designers who share the company’s core values and principles
Mentor and grow the careers of associate design talent and direct reports
Qualifications:
10-12 years relevant experience in digital design, with 4-5 years of experience in a creative, project, and people management role in-house
B.S. degree in relevant field
Portfolio samples of recent work
Strong understanding of contemporary technology platforms and emerging technologies
Automotive HMI design and/or Design for/in Mobility experience is preferred
Strong understanding of Human-Centered Design
Recent experience launching complex digital products
Ability to analyze and understand new domains quickly and become the “timely expert”
Experience in Project Scope estimation and management and Pitch Delivery
Function as team’s advocate to the engineering, analytics, sales, and project management teams
Strong leadership and people management skills
Strong knowledge of the design process and program management
Ability to negotiate and coordinate across multiple groups and disciplines
Sales experience with C-level executives, focused on client-side design opportunities
Ability to work in officein our client’s Mountain View, CA studio
Willingness to travel 35% of the time (domestic and international)
