The Opportunity
Senior Systems Engineer
Curtiss-Wright’s PacStar Business unit is seeking an experienced Engineer with an in-depth understanding of x86 servers and hardware; you are well versed in testing, qualification, and benchmarking of CPU, GPU, and Storage under Windows, Linux, and VMware ESXi. You will work with our cross-functional product engineering teams to deliver data center class functionality to our customers where size, weight, and power (SWAP) and reliability in austere environments are mission-critical. Our products are used by the military, emergency responders, and forward-looking commercial enterprises worldwide. This senior engineering position blends hands-on engineering work with internal and external team collaboration. The primary location for work will be our Portland, Oregon office.

Your Challenge:
Work collaboratively with hardware engineering to build and execute test plans to measure systems performance, validate design performance, and support product qualification of integrated solutions.
Represent PacStar with customers and partners as a subject matter expert (SME) in edge computing, GPU, and storage.
Adeptly communicate complex technologies to all levels and backgrounds.
Interface with technical staff from 3rd parties to resolve technical issues
Develop and manage technology demonstration development, maintaining schedule and reporting on progress to cross-functional teams and management.
Conduct demos at trade shows, customer visits, and online.
Transition technology to production, including input to test procedures, user documentation, and marketing materials.
Independently manage schedules, identifying roadblocks or needed resources early to ensure schedule success.

Your Expertise:
5 +Years of experience in Systems Engineering, Network Engineering, IT, and or QA/Validation
Minimum of 5+ years of experience is required in the following technology areas:
Troubleshooting Intel x86-based hardware systems throughout product lifecycles
Microsoft Windows desktop operating systems
Microsoft Windows server operating systems
Linux
3+ years of experience is required with the operating systems and technology areas below:
Writing and developing test cases
Performing performance, validation and/or qualification testing for new and existing products
Experience with the following technology areas is strongly desired:
Virtualization, Storage, Network, and Systems Integration
VMware experience primarily focused on VMware ESXi/vSphere
Networking devices (routers, switches, firewalls; preferably Cisco)
Hyperconverged infrastructure
Ansible (or similar) automation solutions
Deployment and implementation of new systems using a repeatable process
VMware (or similar) virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI)
PowerShell, PowerCLI, or other scripting languages
Industry-recognized certifications strongly desired:
VMware VCP
Cisco CCNA
Microsoft MCSE
CompTIA A+, Network+, Security +
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Able to communicate technical details with nontechnical team members
Ability to learn from, and mentor team members
Attention to detail and quality orientation a must
Independent Professional that can perform job assignments with limited supervision
Ability to lift and carry 35 pounds of test equipment at least 40 feet
Must be able to self-organize workloads and manage all deadlines
