Position Summary:
The Neel laboratory seeks a Research Technician to assist in studies to develop and characterize novel, genetically defined, syngeneic models of high grade serous ovarian cancer. This work involves extensive advanced cell culture techniques (organoids), molecular characterization (DNA, RNA, protein analysis) and mouse modeling studies. The successful candidate for this position will be energetic, eager to learn new techniques and excited by the opportunity to work in a supportive and collegial multidisciplinary lab environment. Additional requirements for this position include strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Responsible for performing advanced lab duties under general supervision as well as more advanced duties under direct supervision. Assists senior and supervisory technicians in all advanced procedures.
Job Responsibilities:
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Life Sciences or a related field with one year of experience. Advanced (beyond basic lab training will be accepted in lieu of experience as assessed by the hiring Principal Investigator). Effective oral and written communication skills required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degreein Life Sciences, Chemistry, or a related field is preferred. Master’s degree strongly preferred.
6-12 months of lab experience is strongly preferred.
Cell culture, especially organoid experience, and/or experience with mice is preferred.
Routine molecular biology experience (DNA, RNA, protein isolation, cloning, Western blotting) strongly preferred.
Strong quantitative skills required. Must be facile with all basic laboratory calculations (e.g., molarity, normality, percentages, etc.).
Experience with basic software such as MS Word, Powerpoint and Excel required.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $50,000.00 – $50,000.00 Annually.
