Job Description
This position is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to patients by utilizing strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status, implement clinical nursing interventions to modify symptoms, and develop and implement patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes and ensure a safe and therapeutic environment.
This position may be required to access and administer medications within their scope of practice and according to state law.

Assess the patient’s condition and nursing needs, set goals, and prescribe appropriate nursing actions to meet those goals and the patient’s physical, psychological, social, and rehabilitative needs, including discharge planning.

Assess, intervene, and reassess the patient’s self-report/pain symptoms promptly. Utilize an appropriate tool for assessment and reassessment (0-10 numerical scale, FACES, or the FLACC.)

Demonstrate an understanding of medications with regard to action and side effects. Reports pertinent information to the appropriate individual. Educates patients and significant others about their medications.

Demonstrate the ability to evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions in accomplishing goals and intended patient care outcomes.

Maintain the standards of nursing care and implement the policies and procedures of the hospital and department.

Participate in meetings, in-services, and quality and performance improvement groups.

Report pertinent observations and reactions regarding patients to the appropriate person (i.e. physicians, head nurse, charge nurse, and/or nursing supervisor) and records those observations accurately and concisely.

Provide quality patient care and work with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure patient satisfaction.

May complete unit/department-specific duties as outlined in department documents.
Required Qualifications
Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When the primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under the new state of residency within thirty (30) days.
Preferred Qualifications
Participation in a professional nursing organization. Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs.
This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating shifts, holidays, and work during inclement weather will be required.
