600,000 Americans and 12.4 million people worldwide are affected by autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) the most common hereditary kidney disease. 45% is the number of deaths attributable to fibrotic disorders worldwide across all organs and are the result of dysregulation of the extracellular matrix in response to acute and chronic injury. Together, fibrotic disorders and chronic kidney diseases represent areas of high unmet medical need, for which there are limited therapeutic options. As part of the Discovery & Translation Pharmacology team in Disease Area X, you will leverage complex in vivo model systems to advance innovative therapeutic agents for the treatment of these diseases.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Perform animal handling, dosing techniques & tissue collection
* Implement ex-vivo bio-analysis on generated samples
* Work independently to design, execute and analyze in vivo studies in line with project needs and timelines
* Support the development of new in vivo models for chronic kidney diseases and systemic fibrosis
* Work in a highly team-orientated and matrix environment
* Clearly present results and data to teams within Disease Area X and across NIBR
* Work in compliance with the Novartis Code of Conduct and in accordance with Novartis guidelines on health and safety and data recording

Minimum requirements
What you’ll bring to the role:
* BS or MS (or equivalent) in Life Sciences and minimum 1-2 years related laboratory experience in an academic or industrial drug discovery setting in an in vivo role.
* Proficiency with in vivo procedures in rodents including multiple dose routes of administration (PO, IV, SC, IP), blood/tissue collection and necropsies.
* Experience with biochemical assays (e.g. ELISA, qPCR, Western blotting etc.) and/or flow cytometry
* Demonstrate ability to quickly learn and perform in new areas, implement new techniques and instrumentation, critical problem-solving and multi-tasking
* Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Proficiency in computer use and laboratory software programs
* Proven excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills
Desirable requirements:
* Experience with rodent models of chronic kidney disease and/or models of fibrosis

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $84,000 and $126,000 however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/23 through 12/31/23, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
