Job Description

Leads team members to ensure appropriate data and system information architecture for applications. Provides guidance and oversight for information architecture of clinical and non-clinical applications as well as various interoperability projects.

Overview of Department:

Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) is a leading-edge integration team that enables information system interoperability to improve the patient experience while being cared for in all areas of the Northwell Health System. We provide Integration Solutions / Architectural Designs for both Agile activities and traditional Project activities, building channels to transport and transform data across all service lines.

Job Responsibility

• Provides guidance and oversight for creating clinical, semantic and technical requirements for applications. Works with key stakeholders to understand business needs in the context of available system functionality.
• Provides oversight to both clinical and technical teams ensuring deployment of scalable applications while leveraging common sets of tools and processes.
• Leads the development of data governance model for data access control, data definition process and data stewardship.
• Provides expertise in data modeling and data governance for applications. Oversees clinical and business data modelers/analysts in developing conceptual and logical data models for data warehousing and applications; provides analytical and consultative expertise in architecting integration. Works with clinical and quality expert groups to understand clinical workflow requirements and designs appropriate and efficient interoperability and integration designs while leveraging various available tools for data extraction and data transformation.
• Utilizes clinical, technical and analytical skills in evaluation of proposed projects and makes recommendations; ensures quality execution of projects.
• Employees use knowledge and skills to contribute to the development of functional objectives and principles to achieve goals in innovative ways. Problems addressed are of diverse scope and complexity ranging from moderate to substantial.

Job Qualification

• Bachelor’s Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• 5-7 years of relevant experience and progressive experience where team leadership was demonstrated, required.

Preferred Skills:

• Strong proficiency in MS Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
• Strong knowledge of 2 or more of the following: HL7, FHIR, API Webservices, CCD, Clinical applications, EMR, and Revenue Cycle applications
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; effective presentation skills.
• Strong Critical Thinking Skills: the ability to tackle a problem by using a logical, systematic, sequential approach.
• Working knowledge of integrating systems with third-party service vendors – example: Ensemble, eGate, Cloverleaf, Corepoint, Mirth Connect, Orion Rhapsody, OpenLink, eLink etc.
• Ability to work in a diverse, fast-paced environment and effectively collaborate across co-located and virtual teams.
• Ability to juggle multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously.
• Ability to understand the impact of new requests or projects to the current application interoperability and communicate the impact to internal and external teams.
• Experience with or good understanding of Healthcare rules/regulations and workflow for interoperability between Clinical and Financial applications across multi-facility Healthcare settings
• May require local travel to various sites for business needs.
• May require after hours on-call support.
