Job Description:
Northrop Grumman Mission Systems seeks a candidate to lead a team of technical instructors and/or writers in the Technical Data and Training organization.
The successful candidate will lead high-performing team(s) to develop technical documentation and training products for advanced military systems. These include radars for International Programs, F-22, Joint Strike Fighter, F-16, B-1B, AWACS, MESA, G/ATOR, and UAV systems such as STARLite and VADER. The successful candidate possesses strong leadership skills and is an effective communicator and problem solver who can develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. She/he will operate in a team environment and collaborate across sector business areas as required to accomplish program and department goals.
This dual-role manager will have administrative responsibility for 10-15 employees and will perform productive work on programs. The direct program work is estimated at 80% and may include IPT leadership with CAM responsibilities, consulting, proposal support, or any other appropriate technical function.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Review Statements of Work (SOWs) and provide functional inputs for proposals, including cost estimates, Basis of Estimate, assumptions, technical volume write-ups, schedules, spend plans, risk, opportunity, etc.
Support contract negotiations, as required
Plan, coordinate, schedule, lead, assign, and manage personnel to accomplish tasks
Ensure that projects are completed on schedule and within budget
Report status and concerns to program management, as required
Anticipate and mitigate program execution problems
Document meeting action items and decisions accurately
Review and approve expense reports
Identify and propose innovative approaches and solutions to improve processes
Discuss opportunities for new or follow-on business with PMO
Coordinate with Talent Acquisition for hiring employees and/or subcontractors
Guide employee development (training, mentoring, career guidance, goal setting, etc.)
Conduct employee performance evaluations and recommend compensation changes
Disseminate and communicate company and departmental policy to direct reports
Perform workforce planning and forecasting
Participate in strategy and vision development and implementation
Travel domestically or internationally, as required, to conduct business
QUALIFICATIONS
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 12 years of experience or equivalent military experience
5 years of experience developing military training curricula and conducting training
5 years of experience leading and managing military training and/or technical manual programs, including cost estimating and accounting, planning, scheduling, staffing, reporting, coordinating, and directing all aspects of a project from inception through completion
Excellent oral/written communication skills
Persuasive presenter to technical and non-technical audiences
Experience in coordinating activities and facilitating communications between various groups of stakeholders, i.e., internal teams, customer teams, and management
Self-motivated, customer-oriented, strategically minded, team player and leader
Effective leadership skills
Agile in adapting to requirements and developing alternative methods, collaborating with business leaders to influence strategies, and responding effectively to changing events and competing priorities
Possesses DoD Secret clearance with ability/willingness to obtain higher clearance, if required
U.S. Citizenship
Preferred Qualifications:
5 years of experience developing military technical manuals
TS/SCI clearance
Expert-level knowledge of the roles, responsibilities, and underlying methods necessary to develop technical data and/or training products.
Relative to training products, experience encompasses awareness of ISD (Instructional System Design), military standards and practices to analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate courseware, and use of multimedia in the development and conduct of training – augmented and virtual reality.
Relative to technical data products, experience encompasses awareness of a range of military and commercial specifications and delivery formats ranging from page-based to database-driven modular content.
Salary Range: $141,100 USD – $211,700 USD
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
