Vice President for Information Technology
The New York Botanical Garden is embarking on a transformative journey where we seek to combine the power of technology and our collections, horticultural knowledge, and plant science expertise to amplify the importance of plants to our community and planet. As a critical part of initiating and driving that journey, The New York Botanical Garden (NYBG) is seeking an experienced technology leader who can combine operational excellence with digital innovation and impact. As a member of the senior leadership team, this position will oversee technology operations while partnering with NYBG leaders to realize the Garden’s digital ambition.
The VP of Information Technology will oversee the department that supports all technical services at the Garden for more than 400 end users including: infrastructure, applications; data; security; and end user services. As an NYBG leader, this position will be an expert in driving the necessary organizational change management and cultural considerations.
Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the Vice President for Information Technology’s role will be to plan, coordinate, direct, and design all operational activities of the IT department as well as provide vision and roadmaps for technology solutions. This individual will collaborate directly with the executive management team and decision makers across the Garden to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support innovative, cost-effective technology solutions that enhance all aspect of the Garden’s programs and operations.

●Ability to develop strategic initiatives and oversee the development of long-term plans and proposals to support business objectives.

●Experience leading a technology team in developing and applying enterprise architecture principles that optimize the organization.
●In-depth knowledge of COBIT/NIST as well as experience ensuring compliance for applicable laws and regulations as they relate to IT.
●Proven experience developing talent and technology.
●Working knowledge of cloud computing, business intelligence and analytics, Agile and DevOps methodologies.
●In depth knowledge of applicable laws and regulations, particularly cybersecurity.
Qualifications
●Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in the field of computer science, information systems, orbusiness administration.At least 10 years of professional experience in information systems management at a senior level, with at least 5 years of experience working with executive and board-level personnel.
●Experience building and executing a comprehensive data management strategy inclusive of Business Continuity and Contingency Planning (BCCP).
●Experience developing external networks (e.g., taking on advisory roles, participating in industry bodies or directorships).
●Substantial exposure to IT infrastructure including Microsoft Windows, Linux Servers, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft 365 and enterprise software
applications such as Unit4 (ERP,) Raiser’s Edge (fundraising/membership),
Accesso (ticketing), CounterPoint merchandising/retail Point of Sale and
ecommerce, education, library management systems, and digital asset
management systems. Cloud migration/integration experience is a plus.

Benefits:
Salary: Commensurate with experience within the following range: $275,000 – $300,000
