T he Department of Neurosurgery, in collaboration with Patient Care Services, provides comprehensive, compassionate, and technologically advanced patient- and family-centered neurosurgical care, including the most advanced diagnostics and treatments, education of future leaders in the field, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical research to develop new therapies.
Under the direction of the Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs for Neurosurgery, the designated Nursing Director, and the Senior Administrative Director for Neurosurgery, the APP Team Lead is accountable for the delivery of consistent, high quality patient care, promoting the development and satisfaction of the Department’s advance practice providers (APP) as well as allied health staff as applicable, identifying operating efficiencies, reviewing educational competencies, and ensuring compliance with hospital and regulatory policies and standards of practice. The lead APP effectively integrates assigned staff into the overall clinical infrastructure of the Department to develop collaborative interdisciplinary teams within each subspecialty.
The incumbent will maintain an independent clinical practice in addition to the clinical lead responsibilities. In doing so, this advanced practice leader will partner with the leadership team on activities in the inpatient setting, along with other key physician, advanced practice, and nursing leaders to facilitate efficient and effective clinical operations. This role is a collaborative position in the department encompassing patient focused care, personnel oversight and development, initial clinical oversight of the inpatient APP and related operations, development of collaborative and team partnerships within sections and interdisciplinary settings, and participation in monthly APP meetings as well as hospital wide education or relevant APP Committee work.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, and/or REGISTRATIONS:
• Current licensure as an advanced practice provider in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
• Certification as Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
• Prescriptive authority for controlled substances in Massachusetts and DEA registration for controlled substances.
